Despite their importance, the development of facile and efficient methods for synthesizing carboline derivatives remains a pivotal challenge in modern organic synthesis and heterocyclic chemistry. Domino annulation has evolved as a powerful strategy enabling convenient assembly of diverse heterocyclic molecules. Significant progress has been achieved in this field during recent years. This review highlights the important developments in the novel domino annulations for carboline synthesis since 2019. It aims to provide a valuable resource for organic researchers, offering deeper insights into the reactivity and synthetic potential of these elegant methods. It is also hoped that this review will inspire development of novel domino annulation strategies, thereby expanding the toolbox for N‐heterocycle synthesis.
