In the first half of March, parallel to the spread of COVID-19, teaching and lecture halls, colleges and other facil-ities in universities and university campuses were emptied almost simultaneously. Almost overnight, all higher educational institutions switched from face-to-face teaching to online teaching, namely absentee or distance learning. In our study, we surveyed students (both Hungarian and English-speaking stu-dents) and higher education faculty at the end of the second semester of the 2019/2020 academic year to explore their experiences with online education during the pandemic. In our analysis, we explore some aspects of distance learning during the pandemic that we consider important, and we seek to compare the student and teacher views. The results show that the introduction of fully online teaching during the pandemic was relatively smooth, but this period was not without challenges and difficulties that mani-fested themselves in the learning and teaching process, in the availability of learning materials, in the digital skills of students, and in the work overload of teachers. In summary, however, the response of higher education to digitalisation today, besides its inevitability, is to prioritise the incorporation of past experiences in determining the focus of further development.}, keywords = {Higher education; pandemic; HIGHER-EDUCATION; digital education; online education; empirical examination; EMPIRICAL-EXAMINATION; Online-education}, year = {2022}, eissn = {2350-4188}, pages = {25-42}, orcid-numbers = {Bacsa-Bán, Anetta/0000-0002-4246-5426} } @inproceedings{MTMT:31918915, title = {Az egész életen át tartótanulást befolyásoló tanulási tényezők kapcsolata}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/31918915}, author = {Gőgh, Előd and Kővári, Attila}, booktitle = {Módszertani újítások és kutatások a szakképzés és a felsőoktatás területén}, unique-id = {31918915}, year = {2021}, pages = {141-155}, orcid-numbers = {Kővári, Attila/0000-0003-3521-4757} } @article{MTMT:32518462, title = {“From the Initial Steps to the Concept of Online Education”. The use of information and communication technology in education, including higher education, has transformed students' expectations and, at the same time, redefined the role of the online educator. This is because online teaching and learning is significantly different from teaching-learning in a traditional environment, and educators need to rethink their role in the learning and teaching paradigm. Our higher education institution has developed a new learning-teaching concept based on the experience of distance education introduced as a result of the pandemic situation.
