AB  - Learning foreign languages will become increasingly important in the 2020s, both at individual and societal level. Owing to the rapid development of Information Technology, in particular artificial intelligence, language learning is now supported by a wide range of digital tools, many of which can be integrated into institutionalised learning and used for self-learning. This paper focuses on new areas of cooperation between linguistics and education in the field of digital tools for language learning. The paper is guided by the categories of language learning, in particular the language content and skills to be developed, while also addressing several aspects of technology, pedagogy and user experience. The authors review the categories of digital tools supporting language learning according to their basic functions, language content and language skills, while providing examples and good practices and finally addressing the challenges. © 2023 Magyar Neprajzi Tarsasag.
