Background: Previous research has documented that unemployed individuals who engage in recreational activities, either alone or with others, experience higher levels of mental health and psychological well-being relative to those who do not engage in recreational activities. Aims: In this study, we examined whether engagement in health promoting activities, alone or with other family members, is associated with reduced levels of depression and enhanced levels of life satisfaction in unemployed individuals. Method: We employed a cross-sectional design in which we measured life satisfaction, depressive symptoms, consumption of healthy meals and engagement in physical activities in 203 unemployed individuals (male = 90, female = 113, age= 33.79, SD = 11.16). Results: Independent of age, gender, and partner employment status, hierarchical regression analyses revealed statistically significant effects for social forms of healthy eating (consumption of healthy meals with others) and solitary forms of physical activity (exercising alone) on depressive symptoms and life satisfaction. Limitations: The research design was cross-sectional using self-report questionnaires. The present study does not to explain why and how health promoting activities enhance well-being outcomes among the unemployed. Conclusions: These findings highlight the importance of measuring engagement in health promoting activities through separate constructs that capture engagement in social and solitary health promoting activities and suggest that unemployed individuals are likely to experience optimal levels of psychological well-being if they exercise alone and consume healthy meals with other family members.}, year = {2021}, eissn = {2512-8450}, pages = {1-12}, orcid-numbers = {Kamarova, Sviatlana/0000-0002-5271-8482} } @article{MTMT:30862219, title = {Parental Job Loss, Secondary School Completion and Home Environment}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/30862219}, author = {Hajdu, Tamás and Kertesi, Gábor and Kézdi, Gábor}, doi = {10.1556/032.2019.69.3.4}, journal-iso = {ACTA OECON}, journal = {ACTA OECONOMICA}, volume = {69}, unique-id = {30862219}, issn = {0001-6373}, year = {2019}, eissn = {1588-2659}, pages = {393-423}, orcid-numbers = {Hajdu, Tamás/0000-0002-9533-7727} } @article{MTMT:33828636, title = {Economic Crisis and Adolescents’ Educational Outcomes: A Case Study in Southern Europe}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33828636}, author = {Citarella, Antonio}, doi = {10.18848/2327-011X/CGP/v13i04/1-16}, journal-iso = {INTERNAT J INTERDISC EDU STUD}, journal = {INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF INTERDISCIPLINARY EDUCATIONAL STUDIES}, volume = {13}, unique-id = {33828636}, issn = {2327-011X}, year = {2018}, eissn = {2327-2570}, pages = {1-16} } @book{MTMT:25537946, title = {Job loss at home. children’s school performance during the Great Recession in Spain}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/25537946}, author = {Ruiz-Valenzuela, Jenifer}, publisher = {Centre for Economic Performance, London School of Economics and Political Science}, unique-id = {25537946}, year = {2015} } @{MTMT:23376373, title = {Iskolázási mikroszimulációs modell (ISMIK). a népesség iskolázottságának előrejelzése 2020-ig}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/23376373}, author = {Hermann, Z and Varga, J}, booktitle = {Trendek és előrejelzések}, publisher = {MTA KRTK KTI}, unique-id = {23376373}, year = {2013}, pages = {203-225} } @article{MTMT:23396160, title = {Effects of the Great Recession on Child Development}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/23396160}, author = {Kalil, A}, doi = {10.1177/0002716213500453}, journal-iso = {ANN AM ACAD POLIT SS}, journal = {ANNALS OF THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF POLITICAL AND SOCIAL SCIENCE}, volume = {650}, unique-id = {23396160}, issn = {0002-7162}, year = {2013}, eissn = {1552-3349}, pages = {232-250} } @article{MTMT:2040209, title = {A népesség iskolázottságának előrejelzése 2020-ig}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/2040209}, author = {Hermann, Zoltán and Varga, Júlia}, journal-iso = {KÖZGAZDASÁGI SZEMLE}, journal = {KÖZGAZDASÁGI SZEMLE}, volume = {59}, unique-id = {2040209}, issn = {0023-4346}, abstract = {Tanulmányunkban bemutatjuk a népesség iskolai végzettségének előrejelzésére kidolgozott mikroszimulációs modell (ISMIK) felépítését és jellemzőit, és ismertetjük a modell felhasználásával készített előrejelzés eredményeit. A modell segítségével néhány oktatáspolitikai döntés következményét is elemezzük: a tankötelezettségi kor csökkentésének, a szakiskolai továbbtanulási arány növelésének és az állami finanszírozású felsőoktatási férőhelyek korlátozásának hatását a népesség iskolázottságára.}, year = {2012}, pages = {854-891} } @article{MTMT:21746092, title = {Parental job loss and children's educational attainment in Black and White middle-class families}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/21746092}, author = {Kalil, A and Wightman, P}, doi = {10.1111/j.1540-6237.2011.00757.x}, journal-iso = {SOC SCI QUART}, journal = {SOCIAL SCIENCE QUARTERLY}, volume = {92}, unique-id = {21746092}, issn = {0038-4941}, year = {2011}, eissn = {1540-6237}, pages = {57-78} } @article{MTMT:1623592, title = {Roma employment in Hungary after the post-communist transition}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/1623592}, author = {Kertesi, Gábor and Kézdi, Gábor}, doi = {10.1111/j.1468-0351.2011.00410.x}, journal-iso = {ECON TRANSIT}, journal = {ECONOMICS OF TRANSITION}, volume = {19}, unique-id = {1623592}, issn = {0967-0750}, abstract = {We analyse the magnitude and the causes of the low formal employment rate of the Roma in Hungary between 1993 and 2007.
