A piecewise fuzzy-affine observer is designed to estimate the unmeasurable system states, and two enhanced observer-based piecewise OFC approaches are then developed. By making sufficient use of Young's matrix inequality with its variant, novel and less conservative observer-based piecewise output feedback controller design results are proposed via piecewise quadratic Lyapunov functions (PQLFs). Its hydro-power development also provides adequate power and clean resources for the local areas. To understand the water quality of the upper reaches (i.e., Maijia River), seven indices such as dissolved oxygen (DO), chemical oxygen demand (CODCr), biochemical oxygen demanded (BOD5), ammonia nitrogen (NH3-N), total nitrogen (TN), total phosphorus (TP) and fluoride of samples collected from 4 sites from 2003 to 2015 were studied using multiple analysis approaches. For winter-spring and summer-autumn seasons, pictures of spatiotemporal characteristics were presented and the reasons behind their variation trend were elaborated. The Canadian Council of Ministers of the Environment Water Quality Index (CCME WQI) was evaluated to concisely mark the water quality. Principal component analysis (PCA) was applied to identify the source of pollutants. The results showed that the water quality status in Maijia River was poor from 2008 to 2011 and acceptable from 2003 to 2007, and 2012 to 2015, respectively. The CODCr, NH4-N and TN were considered to be the primary pollutants during winter-spring and summer-autumn seasons. The quality of Maijia River was influenced strongly by human activities. Environmental treatment and pollution sources of the middle and lower reaches of the river need to be focused. This study paves a way to improve the ecological environment of Maotiao River and overall water quality management of the middle and upper reaches of Yangtze River. In this paper, an improved real-time sport activity risk calculation model is introduced. The new approach is based on the previously reported anytime hierarchical fuzzy risk calculation model of the authors which is able to handle some uncertainties, imprecision, and subjectivity in the data and in the evaluation process and can cope with the dynamically changing environment, available time, and resources. The new model is extended with further patient-specific features like tuned membership functions applied during the evaluation and data recorded during previous measurements. Furthermore, the authors propose a new pre-processing procedure as well, which allows comparing the currently measured values to the stored data recorded under the same conditions. By this, the person-dependent characteristics and the unavoidable changing of the dynamic reactions of the human organism can also be considered and the risk level can more reliable be predicted. This subsystem evaluates the risk from the patient’s measured physiological parameters as heart rate, systolic and diastolic blood pressure in real-time. For the most reliable results the input membership functions are tuned according to the influential parameters on the measured factors before the real time calculation offline. The obtained membership functions are user-specific thus the result of the evaluation is more reliable.
