At first the origin, the concept and the values of the building are revealed, then several experts’ opinion are summarized about its problems emphasizing the necessity of the frontal modernization. From the description of the designed modernization it is visible how the house will be able to fulfill the recent functional and energetic requirements. As one possibility they are used as façade elements of newly built reinforced concrete skeleton buildings or at the reconstruction of existing ones. The lightweight façade system, discussed in this paper, contains slotted steel girders. The girders are produced in Sweden, but due to these special girders the lightweight building system has to be adapted to Hungarian standards and requirements. To adapt the system the different building physics properties have to be examined and based on the calculations construction details must be designed for different types of façades with sectional details and joints to fit the Hungarian circumstances.
