In this paper, an energy model of the Hungarian energy system of 2009 is worked out, as a reference model for a 100% renewable-based scenario. The model is created in the EnergyPLAN software and is able to simulate all sectors of the national energy system on an hourly basis. The EnergyPLAN software and the main issues of its first Hungarian application are presented. The model is validated by comparing its results to Hungarian and international statistics for 2009. Two alternative models - 'Natural gas+biomass' and 'Biomass' - were created in EnergyPLAN for an analysis to see how the energy system of 2009 could have been operated in an optimised way from environmental point of view, within the existing infrastructure. In 'Biomass' alternative model, the utilisation of primary renewable energy sources almost doubles, causing a decrease of 10% in carbon-dioxide emission. The data set covered an 11-year period (1997-2007) that included eight taxa and seven daily climate variables. Trend analysis was performed on both annual and daily bases. Trend analysis on a daily basis is a new approach that provides information on the annual cycles of the trends. To quantify the strength of the relationship between the annual cycle of the slope of a pollen concentration trend and the annual cycles of the slopes of the climate variable trends, an association measure and a multiple association measure are introduced. Individual taxa were sorted into three categories according to their climate sensitivities. These were compared with two novel climate change-related forces, namely risk potential and expansion potential due to the climate change. The total annual pollen counts indicated significant trends for 4 taxa and 3 of these 4 trends increased on a daily basis. At the same time, significant changes were detected for the pollen season characteristics of three taxa. The association measures performed well when compared to the climate change-related forces. Significant changes in pollen season characteristics were also in accordance with the risk potential and expansion potential due to the climate change. A novel procedure was applied to separate the effects of the past and current weather conditions that influence the current Ambrosia pollen concentrations. The potential effect of land use changes on pollen release of the given taxa was also discussed using the CORINE Land Cover Database. The presented study aimed to assess expressly the spring season temperature dependence on the incidence of LB in Hungary. The weekly LB data were obtained from the National Epidemiologic and Surveillance System for a period of 13 years – 1998–2010. Daily temperature data were derived from the European Climate Assessment and Dataset. The association was studied at national level, descriptive statistics and linear regression models were applied. A significant increasing trend was observed in the mean temperature of the analysed years (0.052 °C per year). The annual LB incidence doubled during the 13 year period. The incidence rates of the periods 1998–2001 and 2007–2010 were 11.1 resp. 17.0 per 100,000. The start of a steep increase in weekly LB incidence (0.1 per 100,000) shifted significantly by 3 weeks earlier, the start date of spring showed similar trend (p=0.0041). LB incidence increased more steadily in spring than in summer, with 79% of the increase being reported during weeks 15–28, with maximum rates of increase occurring in weeks 23–25. The trend was significant between the weeks 15–28. In the warmer years with 19.02 °C mean temperature in May and June, the LB incidence curve reached the annual peak 2–3 weeks earlier, and the descending phase of the curve started earlier than in the colder years with 17.06 °C of the same period. S AB - Frost is an abiotic environmental stress factor significant hazard to many horticultural regions in Hungary. Now we should be focusing more studies on the effects of climatic changes because understanding and ability to minimise the risk of crop loss or damage is fundamental to managing a profitable enterprise. The year of 2007 was critical for Hungarian fruit growers, especially in Alfold region. Serious frost damaged was observed at blooming time in this region, which was approximately 100%. The aim of our research is to study the effects of frost of 2007 on nutrient uptake of an integrated apple orchard in North-West Hungary. Besides plant observations, macronutrient status of eight apple cultivars was studied for three years (2006-2008) to study the effects of frost on fruit load of trees and to conclude the degree and long-term impact of frost stress. Leaf N content decreased while leaf P and K was increased at all cultivars in the year of frost. In the next year leaf P and K dramatically decreased while leaf N increased and reached the earlier N level. Plant observations pointed out that the vegetative and generative balance of trees was significantly shifted due to the frost stress. Fruit loss caused higher vigour and nutrient disorder of trees. The damage not only puts at risk the current season's fruit, but also because of the perennial nature of fruits, can influence the productivity of fruits for several seasons in the future. The general evaluation of this, however, is hardly possible, while the ecological conditions of the experiments are different and the dynamic studies mostly deal with certain subprocess but neglecting their interactions. In this paper the quantity of amino acids proteins hydrolisable with 6 molar HCl in winter wheat grain was determined by amino acid analyser, while the quantity of free amino acids were analysed by high-performance liquid chromatography (with ophthaldialdehyde reagent) and protein content was measured by acryl-amide gelelectophoresis (PAGE). It can be stated that in the content of protein amino acids the quantity of glutamic acid and proline increased most, but in all other N-fertilised treatments the quantity of amino acids raised apparently. In case of free amino acids, primarily the content of asparagine and leucine, increased compared to the control samples due to the effect of fertiliser. All changes of the measured protein, free amino acids and proteins were significantly different from the control. Besides source-related emissions reductions, agriculture is also expected to help slowing down the CO2 increase in the atmosphere by sequestering part of it in soil organic matter, and by producing suitable biomass material as a substitute for fossil fuel. Biomass, similarly to other renewable energy sources, has a low power density and that alone would not be expected to contribute significantly to climate stabilization, The biomass can be used to produce C-neutral fuels to power the transportation industry. Biomass fuels are C-neutral because they release recently fixed CO2, which does not shift the C-cycle. However, the potential for biomass pyrolysis to produce liquid biofuels and a bio char co-product returned to the soil can be C-negative. Conservation practices that help prevent soil erosion, may also sequester soil C and enhance CH4 consumption. Managing N to match crop needs can reduce N2O emission and avoid adverse impacts on water quality. Manipulating animal diet and manure management can reduce CH4 and N2O emission from animal agriculture, All segments of agriculture have management options that can reduce agriculture's environmental footprint, management strategies are needed to assure that the soil resource does not lose its ability to provide food, feed, fiber, and fuel. Soil core and pot incubation experiments are used to estimate the available nitrogen capacity of the soil and the N-gaseous losses. The substance of the two methods is to determine the different nitrogen forms and the gaseous losses after the soil incubation witch happening in a defined time period and moisture levels. Modelling of the processes of the transformations is happened with the "four-pools" model. The pools are connected by kinetics differential equations. An essential of the experiments is that the quantity of the available nitrogen sources and the gaseous losses are possible to determine in every moment. Due to the climate change the species composition of forest has been changing (Kotroczó et al., 2007), and the total leaf litter production has been slightly decreasing. According to our long-term litter manipulation field experiment, after a 5 year treating period, at the No Litter, No Root and No Input treatments the soil organic carbon, the soil pH, the soil enzyme activity (Fekete et al., 2007; Tóth et al., 2007; Kotroczó et al., 2006) and soil respiration decreased. If the average soil temperature raise by 2oC at the dry SIK site, the soil respiration would increase by 22.1%. The increasing soil respiration could speed up the global warming by positive feedback mechanism. In a favourable year, hybrids reach higher yields at higher plant densities as the reduction in the individual yield of plants due to the increase in plant density is smaller. The experiments were set up on typical meadow soil in a dry and rainy year, 2003 and 2005, respectively. In 2003, the yields of hybrids ranged between 7.189-10.24 t ha(-1) depending upon plant density. The hybrids produced the highest yield at 90 thousand plants ha(-1). This was due to the extremely rainy July, in spite of the 78.5 mm precipitation deficit occurring during the season. In 2005, the amount of precipitation was 114.2 mm higher during the season than the average of 30 years. The yields of hybrids ranged between 11.5-15.82 t ha(-1) depending upon plant density. In April 2007, during full bloom, flowers and leaves were collected. Leaves were again collected in August, at the standard sampling time from the same trees. The concentrations of nitrogen, phosporous and potassium were measured in flowers and leaves. Correlation analyses were carried out to establish the relations between nutrient contents in same and different plant parts. The N and P content of leaves was higher than in flowers at full bloom. The opposite was true for K. For all sampling dates, the range of N, P and K contents were wider in leaves than that found in flowers. Significant correlation was found between flower P and leaf P and flower K and leaf K at full bloom. Within flowers, the strongest correlation was found between flower N and P content. Significant, positive correlation was also found between leaf K and P at full bloom. The milkweed provides good quality and quantity of nectar in addition it is attractive to bees. The importance of organic honey is quite high since it has got special status and role in the markets. Our aim was to get site specific information oil the plants' nectar production and honey quality. The relation of soil water content, nectar quantity, quality and the most important physicochemical characteristics of Asclepias and multifloral organic honeys were determined. The water channelled to the fields in time and to the right place can increase the quality as well as the quantity of agricultural products. As a result of interrogation also we can observe favourable changes in the structure of the soil. One of the basic aims of irrigation is to improve the food supply of the ever increasing population. In Hungary the size of the territory authorized for irrigation is about 200 thousand hectare, about 5% of the cultivated area, but the watered area in reality is about half of that, depending on year it happens. 80% of the irrigated areas can be found in Hajdú-Bihar, Jász-Nagykun-Szolnok, Békés, Csongrád and Bács-Kiskun counties. About two-thirds of irrigation water is provided by water works such as ones in Tiszalök, Kisköre, the barrage in Békésszentandrás and their sub-canals such as ones called Eastern-, Western-, and Nagykunsági main canal. The importance of irrigation leads to use of the existing capacity much more but agricultural producers can not improve irrigation system, because the agricultural production do not provide enough income for them. Mainly crops, seed-corn, fruit and vegetables, both of international and home markets as well as food-processing industry demand continuous and good quality of yields which can be proved by the irrigation.
