Long term sustainability and efficiency in passenger transport requires a balanced transport policy. These subsectors need to be complement each other, not compete. The parallel bus and railway links can result in a competition. This research explores solutions to this issue for long term environmental and economic sustainability optimization. Some of the important factors include the number of inhabitants to be served, public transport availability, and efficiency in time of travel for vehicles and passengers. To ensure long term sustainability of the presented methodology, the effect of interventions was analyzed. Public transport can be more attractive by providing "Door to door mobility" and development of transportation services is an important factor of social quality. Public transport accessibility has gained vital importance in designing and evaluating the transit system in terms of mobility and sustainability. Apart from the transport system itself, public transport accessibility has the considerable impact on life satisfaction in the form of perceived accessibility. Moreover, researchers have revealed several impact and correlation of provision of public transport accessibility to the environment and daily life which would have a noticeable impact on public health and other aspects of public daily life. Furthermore, the correlation between public transport accessibility and job opportunities has attracted the researchers' attention in the literature. Also, public participation in social activities has been investigated based on public transport accessibility and their close connection has been revealed under the topic of social exclusion. In this paper, the available literature on public transport accessibility has been reviewed. A kétféle gravitációs modellspecifikáció- val becsült határhatások (border effects) időbeli alakulásával sikerül rámutatni az EU (Európai Unió) orszá- gai között levő árupiaci integráció heterogenitására. Az eredményekből arra lehet következtetni, hogy a fejlettebb tagországok – közöttük is főként a nyugateurópaiak – kereskedelme kisebb torzulást mutat belföldi árupiacaik felé, mint a 2004-ben és 2007-ben csatlakozottaké. Utóbbiak esetén viszont – legfőképpen az Unió keleti országaiban – rendkívül dinamikusan csökkent a határ-dummy együtthatója, ami így 2014-ben már csak töredéke volt a húsz évvel azelőttinek. Az északi és déli tagországokra viszonylag magas határhatás-paramétereket adtak a regressziók az idő- szak elején, melyek a dél-európai tagországok esetén nem is tudtak számottevően csökkenni a vizsgált idő- szak alatt.
