Increasing impervious surface area has a negative impact on population health and environmental conditions. Freely available Landsat images make it possible to produce land-cover maps at regional or country level from 1984 to 2016 and derive changes between two or more dates. In this study, we used a random forest method to map impervious surfaces and their change between 1986 to 2015 for Csongrád county, Hungary. Ten Landsat images acquired in 1986 and fourteen images acquired in 2015 were used for the classification procedure. The overall accuracy of classification for 1986 and 2015 were, respectively 90.9 and 91.6%. Change information was derived using post-classification comparison between 1986 and 2015.
