Hydrogenolysis or selective hydrolysis of the benzyloxycarbonyl group provided 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-1-carboxamides, further hydrolysis of which resulted in the corresponding 1,2,3,4-tetrahydroisoquinoline-1-carboxylic acids.
