AB  - A tanulmány a 325-ben tartott első egyetemes, Niceai Zsinat történeti, teológiai és politikai összefüggéseit vizsgálja, különös tekintettel Nagy Konstantin császár megtérésére és egyházpolitikájára. A kutatás arra mutat rá, hogy Konstantin valláspolitikai fordulata nem csupán a keresztényüldözések végét hozta el, hanem új kapcsolatot teremtett a hit és a hatalom között a Római Birodalomban. A Niceai Zsinat az ariánus vita közepette jött létre, azzal a céllal, hogy teológiai egységet teremtsen a Fiú és az Atya isteni természetének kérdésében. Részletesen bemutatva az arianizmus főbb tanait, a homoousziosz (egylényegűség) fogalmának megszületését, valamint a zsinati döntések hosszú távú hatását a keresztény teológiai gondolkodásra és egyháztörténetre. Külön figyelmet fordítva a hit és a világi hatalom viszonyára, mert meggyőződésünk szerint a Niceai Zsinat máig aktuális tanulsága a hitelvek és a politikai érdekek szétválasztásának fontossága. A kutatás végkövetkeztetése, hogy a Niceai Zsinat nem csupán történelmi esemény, hanem örök érvényű üzenet az egység, a hit és a közösség megőrzéséről.

This study examines the historical, theological, and political contexts of the First Ecumenical Council of Nicaea, held in 325 AD, with particular attention to Emperor Constantine’s conversion and ecclesiastical policies. The research demonstrates that Constantine’s religious-political shift not only marked the end of Christian persecution but also established a new relationship between faith and imperial authority within the Roman Empire. The Council of Nicaea was convened amidst the Arian controversy, aiming to achieve theological unity concerning the divine nature of the Son and the Father. The study provides a detailed analysis of the main doctrines of Arianism, the emergence of the concept of homoousios (consubstantiality), and the long-term impact of the Council’s decisions on Christian theological thought and church history. Special attention is given to the relationship between faith and secular power, as the research argues that the enduring lesson of the Council of Nicaea lies in the necessity of separating theological principles from political interests. The study concludes that the Council represents not merely a historical event but also an eternal message regarding the preservation of unity, faith, and communal cohesion.
