The launch of the Sentinel-1 satellites, providing high-quality SAR images in C-band (5.405 GHz) at a very high temporal frequency (every 6 days until the end of 2021). The advancements both in computing capacity and processing algorithms enabled the determination of surface displacements on regional and even continental scale. C-band based InSAR processing has many limitations however, when applied in temperate regions. Seasonal change in soil moisture, vegetation foliage, surface coverage (snow cover) and agricultural activities (plowing, seeding, crop development) can all lead to loss of coherence and consequently loss of deformation information. These factors can render the determination of surface motions very difficult in areas where the velocity of these motions is low (< 1-2 mm / year). In this contribution the authors wish to present results of InSAR processing applied to an area (Hungary in Central Europe) where the mentioned limitations (temperate region, low expected displacement velocities) are present. Approximately 250 Sentinel-1 images, both ascending and descending direction, between 2016 and 2021 were processed covering the area of interest. The images were processed using the Gamma software package (https://www.gamma-rs.ch/software) with both Persistent Scatterer (PS) and Small Baseline (SBAS) InSAR processing methods. We present the results of the two processing strategies, discuss the advantages and shortcomings, and provide an outlook on future work, with recommendations on how to plan and execute such large-scale analysis.}, keywords = {Space geodesy; InSAR; PSInSAR; SBAS-InSAR}, year = {2023}, orcid-numbers = {Szűcs, Eszter/0000-0001-6781-4269; Szárnya, Csilla/0000-0002-8880-194X} } @misc{MTMT:34138948, title = {ELF Radio Waves in the Service of Studying the Lithosphere-Atmosphere-Ionosphere System}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34138948}, author = {Bozóki, Tamás and Sátori, Gabriella and Williams, Earle and Prácser, Ernő and Szabóné André, Karolina and Steinbach, Péter and Bozsó, István and Horváth, András and Kuslits, Lukács and Timkó, Máté and Guha, Anirban and Liu, Yakun and Bór, József}, unique-id = {34138948}, year = {2023}, pages = {171}, orcid-numbers = {Bozóki, Tamás/0000-0002-1672-1510; Szabóné André, Karolina/0000-0002-2465-1620; Steinbach, Péter/0000-0003-2524-8494; Buzás, Attila/0000-0002-2648-7764} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34125281, title = {The impact of two extraordinary geophysical events on Schumann resonances: lessons from the Hunga-Tonga volcanic eruption and GRB 221009A}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34125281}, author = {Bozóki, Tamás and Bór, József and Sátori, Gabriella and E., Williams and M., Rycroft and Steinbach, Péter and Bozsó, István and Horváth, András and Kuslits, Lukács and M., Atkinson and J., Kubisz and J., Mlynarzyk and A., Neska and T., Raita and R., Said}, booktitle = {XXVIII General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) (Berlin 2023)}, unique-id = {34125281}, year = {2023}, orcid-numbers = {Bozóki, Tamás/0000-0002-1672-1510; Steinbach, Péter/0000-0003-2524-8494} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34102853, title = {Testing a “fully – automated” clustering algorithm for stress inversions (CluStress)}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34102853}, author = {Czirok, Lili and Kuslits, Lukács and Gribovszki, Katalin Eszter and Bozsó, István}, booktitle = {XXVIII General Assembly of the International Union of Geodesy and Geophysics (IUGG) (Berlin 2023)}, doi = {10.57757/IUGG23-4514}, unique-id = {34102853}, abstract = {The goal of this contribution is to present the “fully-automated” clustering algorithm developed by the authors. This is augmented by a case study where the authors carried out various cluster analyses of the focal mechanism solutions (FMS) estimated from local and teleseismic measurements and then performed stress inversions using the resulting clusters. This algorithm does not call for the setting of hyper-parameters by the users, thus greatly reducing the level of subjectivity introduced by user choice; the time required to finish the clustering can also be decreased. There is, however, an optional hyper-parameter which can be used for outlier detection, i.e. identify the data points considered to be noise in the input dataset, increasing the performance of the stress estimations. For probing the efficiency of their algorithm, systematic series of tests were executed on synthetic FMS data featuring clusters of various characteristics. During these tests, CluStress has been compared to other established clustering methods, namely, hierarchical density-based clustering for applications with noise (HDBSCAN) and agglomerative hierarchical analysis. Quantitative metrics, mainly the characteristic curves produced using the so-called silhouette-coefficient indicate that CluStress generates the most robust clusters for the stress inversions on synthetic data. A similar conclusion could be drawn from the same test performed using real FMS data of the investigated study area. As for this latter case, the resulting stress tensors show good agreement with the earlier published results with the notable exception of traces of extension, identified in some parts of the region after FMS clustering.}, year = {2023}, pages = {IUGG23-4514}, orcid-numbers = {Gribovszki, Katalin Eszter/0000-0003-2577-0127} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34069125, title = {Integrated Geodynamic Stations in Central Europe}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34069125}, author = {Kovács, István János and Szabó, Csaba and Szakács, Alexandru and Lange, Thomas Pieter and Kővágó, Ákos and Gelencsér, Orsolya and Gál, Ágnes and Berkesi, Márta and Liptai, Nóra and Patkó, Levente and Palcsu, László and Bozsó, István and Gergely, Szilveszter and Süle, Bálint and Novák, Attila and Wesztergom, Viktor}, booktitle = {Goldschmidt 2023 Conference: abstracts}, unique-id = {34069125}, year = {2023}, pages = {20764}, orcid-numbers = {Kovács, István János/0000-0002-3488-3716; Szabó, Csaba/0000-0002-1580-6344; Lange, Thomas Pieter/0000-0002-8709-9239; Gelencsér, Orsolya/0000-0001-8615-9298; Gál, Ágnes/0000-0001-5366-3340; Berkesi, Márta/0000-0003-4380-057X; Liptai, Nóra/0000-0002-2464-2468; Patkó, Levente/0000-0001-6007-3103; Gergely, Szilveszter/0000-0003-1945-526X} } @article{MTMT:34049353, title = {Monitoring Strategy of Geological Hazards Using Integrated Three-dimensional InSAR and GNSS Technologies with Case Study}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34049353}, author = {Bányai, László and Bozsó, István and Szűcs, Eszter and Gribovszki, Katalin Eszter and Wesztergom, Viktor}, doi = {10.3311/PPci.20009}, journal-iso = {PERIOD POLYTECH CIV ENG}, journal = {PERIODICA POLYTECHNICA-CIVIL ENGINEERING}, volume = {67}, unique-id = {34049353}, issn = {0553-6626}, abstract = {Geodetic/geodynamic benchmarks, equipped with both ascending and descending radar corner reflectors, and a method for integrated InSAR and GNSS/GPS network observation were developed and applied as the continuation of the former geodetic monitoring at the Dunaszekcső landslide, Hungary. The attempts to apply InSAR technologies using archive and Sentinel-1 data practically failed on the most intensive landside areas (“Vár” and “Szent János” hills), where proper persistent or distributed scatterers were not found. Our concept solved this problem, where the Simple Look Complex (SLC) images are used to interpolate the movements between two GNSS network observations using the integrated benchmarks and the method of Kalman-filtering. Since the InSAR line-of-sight (LOS) changes are barely sensitive to the north movements, this information is essentially provided by GNSS measurement alone, moreover, the GNSS measurements are used to: a) identify the benchmarks, b) detect the unwrapping errors and missing cycles and c) provide the boundary values of Kalman-filtering.After the installation of benchmarks three GPS observations were carried out and 69 ascending and 61 descending Sentinel-1 A and B images were processed. The data processing properly indicated the general movement history, which fit the curves of former geodetic observations, as well. The dense data points of the East and Up (vertical) components made possible more detailed geomorphologic interpretations of the ongoing process between two GPS observations. During the investigated periods the deceleration of movements was experienced, however, the deceleration of the dormant state needs the continuation of the monitoring.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1587-3773}, pages = {992-1000}, orcid-numbers = {Szűcs, Eszter/0000-0001-6781-4269; Gribovszki, Katalin Eszter/0000-0003-2577-0127} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:33797498, title = {ELF-transients detected in the broadband recordings at the Hylaty station in Poland}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33797498}, author = {Bozóki, Tamás and Janusz, Młynarczyk and Bór, József and Jerzy, Kubisz and Bozsó, István and Horváth, András and Kuslits, Lukács and Timkó, Máté}, booktitle = {EGU General Assembly 2023: Abstracts}, doi = {10.5194/egusphere-egu23-17102}, unique-id = {33797498}, year = {2023}, orcid-numbers = {Bozóki, Tamás/0000-0002-1672-1510} } @article{MTMT:34190536, title = {HUNGARIAN CONTRIBUTION TO THE RESEARCH ON POSITIONING AND APPLICATIONS (2019-2022) – IAG COMMISSION 4}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34190536}, author = {Rózsa, Szabolcs and Ács, Ágnes Mária and Ambrus, Bence and Bányai, László and Békési, Eszter and Bozsó, István and Égető, Csaba and Farkas, Márton and Gönczy, Sándor and Horváth, Roland and Juni, Ildikó and Khaldi, Abir and Lupsic, Balázs and Magyar, Bálint and Nagy, Lajos and Paláncz, Béla and Siki, Zoltán and Somogyi, Rita and Szakács, Alexandru and Szárnya, Csilla and Szűcs, Eszter and Takács, Bence and Tóth, Sándor and Turák, Bence Dávid and Vanek, Bálint and Völgyesi, Lajos and Wesztergom, Viktor}, journal-iso = {GEOMAT KÖZL}, journal = {GEOMATIKAI KÖZLEMÉNYEK / PUBLICATIONS IN GEOMATICS}, volume = {25}, unique-id = {34190536}, issn = {1419-6492}, year = {2022}, pages = {41-50}, orcid-numbers = {Rózsa, Szabolcs/0000-0001-5335-6455; Ambrus, Bence/0000-0002-8896-9443; Békési, Eszter/0000-0003-3561-1656; Égető, Csaba/0000-0001-7722-852X; Gönczy, Sándor/0000-0003-0350-0484; Juni, Ildikó/0000-0002-3603-3387; Magyar, Bálint/0000-0002-2464-6805; Siki, Zoltán/0000-0002-9615-181X; Szárnya, Csilla/0000-0002-8880-194X; Szűcs, Eszter/0000-0001-6781-4269; Takács, Bence/0000-0003-4262-7461; Tóth, Sándor/0000-0001-8445-9027; Vanek, Bálint/0000-0002-2458-2725; Völgyesi, Lajos/0000-0002-3196-4887} }
