Even when an invention possesses significant added value, its successful commercialization could only be executed in a stable macroeconomic and innovation environment and also if proper innovation management expertise is provided. ValDeal Innovations Zrt. was established to foster the commercialization of Hungarian, high business potential inventions by providing its business expertise. The company used an – already in various markets and countries probed – US innovation management method consisting of the tasks of technology evaluation as well as the commercialization of inventions. There were major changes necessary while probing the US method residing in the different macroeconomic circumstances and the attitudes for innovation in Hungary. The article details the above mentioned issues together with the conclusions the members of ValDeal have drawn during the innovation management process. They give orientation in the dynamics of sciences, technologies, and industries. Investigation of these frames of mind is rapidly expanding, and has already brought many important results. Pharmaceuticals has always been an innovative industry. Biotechnology has always been identified as an immense potential for an industrial revolution that also revolutionizes pharmaceuticals. Concerning R&D, the essential problem of the recently converging pharmaceuticals and biotechnology is the innovation of innovation. This means that the search for innovation itself is awaiting a Schumpeterian creative destruction. History of modern biotechnology is a steady stream of spectacular visions of repeated revolutions. But the pressing problem of converging biotechnology and pharmaceuticals is the problem of what sort of, from the recently profoundly different, innovation mechanism can relieve the strong tension between the increased challenges and the permanent productivity crisis of pharmaceuticals which has become chronic in the past twenty years. This article first reconstructs the dynamics of an industry, with its central focus on blockbuster production, in which repeatedly radical expectations and visions are constructed, and have a key function. Among the players in the arena, advisory firms are of particular importance in providing strategic expectations and visions. This article investigates examples of advice that make forecasts of alleged revolutions in biotechnology. In the dynamic tension of three components – first, the steady, extremely upgraded requirements the industry is constantly confronted with; second, its real continuing underperformance in meeting them; and third, the repeatedly emerging revolutionary potentials, first of all in molecular-biological research – an extremely stretched dynamics is identified, in which the visions and anouncements of on duty "revolutions" in biopharmaceuticals move from one self-suggestion to another. Living Labs (LL) have a bridging role between market pull and technology push. They realise concurrent innovation. LLs are approaches to realise an interactive search for new products/services in real life milieus together with users/consumers, without mediation of marketing experts. Our presentation highlights LLs first as providers of a collaborative working environment for users. It emphasises that LLs have a strong methodology and describes and assesses the „LL Harmonization cubes”. It outlines then what LLs can bring advantages for SMEs. Main added value of LLs for SMEs is that they provide for innovation services by integrating SMEs in a collaborative working environment that would otherwise not available for them.
