Trunk injection is an alternative method of insecticide delivery that may improve pesticide performance in controlling pests. In our study, four pesticides (abamectin, acetamiprid, flupyradifurone, and cyantraniliprole) were investigated for trunk injection against R. cerasi. Acetamiprid trunk injection in a minimum dose of 0.56 g/tree was suitable for protection against the pest, the efficacy of the control was over 95%, and the pesticide residue concentrations in the fruits were below the maximum permissible limit in each experiment. The trunk injection and foliar spray of the same dose of acetamiprid were equally effective. In the case of the other three active ingredients (abamectin, flupyradifurone, and cyantraniliprole), the trunk injection method did not prove suitable for practical use due to various reasons, which are detailed in the manuscript.}, year = {2024}, eissn = {2311-7524}, orcid-numbers = {Szabó, Árpád/0009-0004-1692-6075; László, Anna/0000-0001-9041-4458} } @misc{MTMT:34718003, title = {Hogyan hatnak az európai klímazónák a zöld levéltetű-komplex (Aphis pomi de Geer és A. spiraecola Patch) (Hemiptera: Aphididae) összetételére?}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34718003}, author = {Borbély, Csaba and Markó, Gábor and Georgina, Alins and Yvan, Capowiez and Petros, Damos and Galambos, Nikoletta and Stine, Kramer Jacobsen and Marcos, Minarro and Fadil, Musa and Jana, Ourednícková and Federico, Pedrazzoli and Wojciech, Piotrowski and Lene, Sigsgaard and Sylvaine, Simon and Michal, Skalsky and Markó, Viktor}, unique-id = {34718003}, abstract = {Az Európában őshonos, egygazdás zöld alma-levéltetű (Aphis pomi De Geer) és a kelet-ázsiai eredetű, Európában inváziós fajként megjelent, gazdacserés zöld gyöngyvessző-levéltetű (Aphis spiraecola Patch) együtt fordul elő a kontinens almaültetvényeiben. Various studies suggest that, under certain conditions, the originally host-alternating A. spiraecola is able to overwinter on apple as a winter host, following a similar life history to A. pomi . In this study, we collected stem mothers (fundatrices) and aphids of the second generation (fundatrigeniae) from ten localities throughout Hungary for nine consecutive springs to assess whether A. spiraecola can overwinter on apple as a winter host. Besides causing serious damage in agriculture, this species also represents a source of intense annoyance for humans in residential areas, because large amounts of individuals can aggregate on buildings while seeking shelter before overwintering. Taking into account the need for pesticide-free pest management methods, for example light trapping , we measured the spectral sensitivity of the compound eyes of H. halys with electroretinography (ERG). In behavioural experiments, we also quantified the attraction of H. halys to 14 quasi-monochromatic light stimuli in the 368–743 nm spectral range. The dark-adapted compound eyes were mostly sensitive to the green range, but a minor sensitivity peak in the UV region was also identified. Recordings on chromatic-adapted eye preparations unequivocally revealed the presence of only a green- and a UV-sensitive photoreceptor type, with sensitivity maxima at 519 nm and 367 nm, respectively. No sign of any blue-sensitive receptor was detected, and thus only a receptor set allowing dichromatic vision was found. Based on the results of the behavioural experiments, we established that the attraction of H. halys to light is increasing with decreasing wavelength, and thus we emphasize the importance of short wavelength lights (368–455 nm) when phototactic attraction of H. halys is the aim.}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1612-4766}, orcid-numbers = {Kriska, György/0000-0003-4271-3167; Fail, József/0000-0001-8049-5776} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34534475, title = {Parasitoids of Nezara viridula (Linnaeus, 1758) in Hungary}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34534475}, author = {J., Wahengbam and Király, Kristóf Domonkos and Radácsi, Péter and Fail, József and Hári, Katalin}, booktitle = {Book of Abstracts - XII European Congress of Entomology}, unique-id = {34534475}, year = {2023}, pages = {593}, orcid-numbers = {Király, Kristóf Domonkos/0000-0001-7651-0152; Fail, József/0000-0001-8049-5776} } @article{MTMT:34499540, title = {Az ázsiai márványospoloska (Halyomorpha halys) fényhez való vonzódása és összetett szemének spektrális érzékenysége}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34499540}, author = {Egri, Ádám and Mészáros, Á. and Kriska, Gy. and Fail, József}, journal-iso = {NÖVÉNYVÉDELEM}, journal = {NÖVÉNYVÉDELEM}, volume = {84 (59)}, unique-id = {34499540}, issn = {0133-0829}, year = {2023}, pages = {541-550}, orcid-numbers = {Fail, József/0000-0001-8049-5776} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34482965, title = {Az ázsiai márványospoloska populációjának alakulása az elmúlt 10 évben}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34482965}, author = {Hári, Katalin and Szita, Éva and Kiss, Balázs and Kovácsová, H. and Vörös, B. and Wahengbam, J. and Vétek, Gábor and Fail, József}, booktitle = {INTEGRÁLT TERMESZTÉS A KERTÉSZETI ÉS SZÁNTÓFÖLDI KULTÚRÁKBAN (XXXVII.)}, unique-id = {34482965}, year = {2023}, pages = {15-20}, orcid-numbers = {Fail, József/0000-0001-8049-5776} } @article{MTMT:34476430, title = {The Optimal Choice of Trap Type for the Recently Spreading Jewel Beetle Pests Lamprodila festiva and Agrilus sinuatus (Coleoptera, Buprestidae)}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34476430}, author = {Matula, Eszter Bernadett and Bozsik, Gábor and Muskovits, József and Ruszák, Csenge and Jávorszky, Laura and Bonte, Jochem and Paulin, Márton József and Vuts, József and Fail, József and Tóth, Ágoston and Egri, Ádám and Tóth, Miklós and Imrei, Zoltán}, doi = {10.3390/insects14120961}, journal-iso = {INSECTS}, journal = {INSECTS}, volume = {14}, unique-id = {34476430}, abstract = {BACKGROUND: Two jewel beetle species native to Europe, the cypress jewel beetle, Lamprodila (Palmar, Ovalisia) festiva L. (Buprestidae, Coleoptera), and the sinuate pear tree borer, Agrilus sinuatus Olivier (Buprestidae, Coleoptera), are key pests of ornamental thuja and junipers and of orchard and ornamental rosaceous trees, respectively. Although chemical control measures are available, due to the beetles’ small size, agility, and cryptic lifestyle at the larval stage, efficient tools for their detection and monitoring are missing. Consequently, by the time emerging jewel beetle adults are noticed, the trees are typically significantly damaged. METHODS: Thus, the aim of this study was to initiate the development of monitoring traps. Transparent, light green, and purple sticky sheets and multifunnel traps were compared in field experiments in Hungary. RESULTS: Light green and transparent sticky traps caught more L. festiva and A. sinuatus jewel beetles than non-sticky multifunnel traps, regardless of the larger size of the colored surface of the funnel traps. CONCLUSIONS: Although light green sticky sheets turned out to be optimal for both species, using transparent sheets can reduce catches of non-target insects. The key to the effectiveness of sticky traps, despite their reduced suitability for quantitative comparisons, may lie in the behavioral responses of the beetles to the optical features of the traps.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2075-4450}, orcid-numbers = {Bonte, Jochem/0000-0001-6191-0604; Paulin, Márton József/0000-0002-6164-0699; Vuts, József/0000-0001-6240-0905; Fail, József/0000-0001-8049-5776} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34199697, title = {Tölgyesek (Quercus spp.) és kőrisek (Fraxinus spp.) díszbogárfajainak (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) csalogatása szín- és illatingerek segítségével = (Attracting oak- (Quercus spp.) and ash-related (Fraxinus spp.) Agrilus jewel beetle species (Coleoptera, Buprestidae) using visual and olfactory stimuli)}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34199697}, author = {Matula, Eszter and Teodora, Toshova and Ivaylo, Todorov and Lohonyai, Zsófia and Kozma, Vivien and Szőcs, Levente and Muskovits, József and Paulin, Márton József and Kárpáti, Marcell and Fail, József and Csóka, György and Vuts, József and Tóth, Miklós and Imrei, Zoltán}, booktitle = {III.
