The beetle spread at an unprecedented pace and intensity and poses a threat to many countries. Our study aimed to map the Palearctic distribution of L. festiva and measure the dispersal's pace and directions. Besides, one of our goals was visualising the adult’s seasonal activity and their host plant choice preference. A meta-analytical assessment was carried out to answer these questions based on the related bibliographical sources available in scientific databases.Our results confirmed that L. festiva has spread with extraordinary speed and success across the western Palaearctic areas, where the consequences of global warming have provided optimal conditions. The first population successful reproduction was started at five well-differentiated natural reserve areas across Europe in a latent manner. The flight season of L. festiva typically occurs from May to July, with the peaks varying depending on the area of distribution. Our studies have shown that L. festiva is a typical oligophagous pest, favouring certain species within its range of host plants. Thus, the genera Thuja, Platycladus and Juniperus species are most affected by its damage. Starting from its exceptional distribution characteristics, realising biological explanatory and applied protection research related to this species can become an urgent expectation in the future.}, keywords = {Cupressaceae; Climatic zones; Host plant preference; distribution areas; directions of spreading; seasonal flight pattern; western Palearctic range}, year = {2024}, eissn = {2337-0173}, pages = {54-71}, orcid-numbers = {Keszthelyi, Sándor/0000-0001-7966-1001; Somfalvi-Tóth, Katalin/0000-0001-7404-6704} } @{MTMT:34826419, title = {DIFFERENTIAL MOLECULAR RESPONSES OF DIVERSE CUCUMBER VARIETIES TO INCREASED NITRATE AVAILABILITY}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34826419}, isbn = {9786156457431}, author = {Neda, Hesari and Szegő, Anita and Kissné Bába, Erzsébet Ilona and Kolozs, Henriett and Teles Cardoso, Juliana and Eduarda, Soares Ramos Maria and Khan, Imran and Papp, István}, booktitle = {II. This investigation aimed to distinguish between the beneficial and harmful effects of Zn on plants, highlighting significant nutrient supply concerns. Methods: The investigation methods were centered around non-invasive methods, such as biophoton emission (delayed fluorescence—DF, ultra-weak bioluminescence—UWLE), fluorescence induction (Fv/Fm) measurements, chlorophyll content estimation (SPAD) and vegetation index (NDVI) determination. Furthermore, the analytical determination of lipid oxidation (MDA level) and antioxidant capacity (FRAP) as well as gene expression studies of the antioxidative enzymes glutathione reductase (GR), glutathione S-transferase (GST) and lipoxygenase (LOX) for essential Zn and nonessential cadmium (Cd) were also carried out in order to clarify toxic symptoms through different Zn investigation approaches. Results: It was possible to identify a metabolic enhancement from 1000 µM; however, stress symptoms from the 2000 µM Zn treatment were noted for both the investigated photosynthetic and oxidative processes. The outcomes of this research contribute to the improvement of Zn mineral-supplementation technology, which is essential for maize growth, and the optimization of agricultural practices.}, keywords = {cadmium toxicity; essential–nonessential comparison; zinc deficiency and toxicity; maize delayed-fluorescence (DF); ultra-weak bioluminescence (UWLE)}, year = {2024}, eissn = {2223-7747}, orcid-numbers = {Jócsák, Ildikó/0000-0002-1958-6377; Somfalvi-Tóth, Katalin/0000-0001-7404-6704} }
