A preliminary survey of the bryophyte flora of the reserve has already been carried out in the past and altogether 84 taxa have been reported from this area. Here, we publish a total of 103 bryophyte species (25 liverworts and 78 mosses), out of which 40 are reported as new for the reserve. It is situated within the Eastern Carpathians and represents a special area in Slovakia, with the largest complex of primeval forests in the country. The bryophyte flora of this region has been relatively well studied in the past century and so far 375 bryophyte taxa have been reported from the territory of the national park. This paper contributes to the knowledge on the bryophyte flora of the Poloniny National Park. We recorded a total of 117 bryophyte taxa (one hornwort, 16 liverworts, and 100 mosses), out of which 12 are reported as new for the region. Here we present the first Hungarian occurrence of the taxon from 2021, which is the second record for Europe, aft er the previously published Ukrainian data. In 2022 Surirella tientsinensis was detected from two other Hungarian river sampling localities. The first confirmed record (Szentendre) of the annual weed Adonis annua, a new occurrence (Bodrog bank, Sárospatak) of Cyperus michelianus in the upper Tisza region, and a new locality of the alien weed Rapistrum rugosum from Szentendre (Bizottság-liget) are reported. Most of the specimens (40%) were collected near Herceg Novi in Boka Kotorska Bay. Another significant part of the specimens (35%) was collected in Kotor or in the surrounding of the town. 18% of the specimens derives from the Orjen Mts. The others are sporadic records from various parts of Montenegro. 80% of the specimens were unpublished. Most of the species found are common, widespread members of the Montenegrin flora, but some rare elements were also found. Later, this variety has not been used further and has not been treated correctly in the checklists. The species was separated and raised to the species rank by Segarra-Moragues et al. in 2022. Riella macrocarpa is known mainly in the western part of the Mediterranean Basin. The only record from the eastern part is from Cyprus. In the Balkan Peninsula only Riella notarisii has been reported so far from Croatia and Greece. Riella macrocarpa was found in Albania (Narta area), which means an extension of the distribution of this species to the eastern Mediterranean region.
