All studied scenarios in the frame of this roadmap include a contribution of the nuclear energy in various ranges (up to 21%) depending on several hypotheses. In order to attract leading edge technology development into the Central Euro-pean region and to share the common responsibility of EU member states in achieving sustainable energy production and contributing to the fight against climate change, the idea emerged that the Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia could host a major European nuclear facility as part of R&D efforts aiming at the development of the next generation of nuclear reactors.
