The authors invented a method and built a special tribometer for pressure-assisted lubrication. This approach reduces friction in sheet metal forming processes compared to conventional lubrication. Moreover, the artificial neural network approach combined with a force-directed Fruchterman-Reingold graph algorithm and Spearman’s correlation was used for the first time to analyse the relationships between the friction process parameters and the output parameters (the coefficient of friction and the resulting surface roughness of the sheet metal). The experimental tests were conducted utilising strip drawing on four grades of steel sheets known to be outstanding for deep-drawing quality. Different oils, oil pressures and contact pressures were used. Artificial neural network models were used for the first time to determine these relationships in a strip drawing test where every parameter is represented by one node, and all nodes are connected by edges with each other. R Software version 4.2.3 was used to construct the network using the ‘qgraph’ and ‘networktools’ packages. It was found that friction conditions had a highly significant negative correlation with coefficient of friction (COF) and a moderately significant negative correlation with the final surface roughness. However, the initial surface roughness of the as-received sheets had a negative correlation with the COF and a positive one with the resulting surface roughness of the sheet metal. The parameters most related to the COF are the strength coefficient, the ultimate tensile strength and the friction conditions (dry friction or pressurised lubrication). Spearman’s correlation coefficients showed a strong correlation between the kinematic viscosity and the friction conditions. © The Author(s) 2024.}, keywords = {NEURAL NETWORKS; Friction; sheet metal forming; sheet metal forming; tensile strength; Surface roughness; Steel sheet; lubrication; Tribology; Tribology; Tensile testing; Directed graphs; Coefficient of frictions; Automotive industry; Tribometers; Pilot studies; Negative correlation; Deep drawing; Friction conditions; STEEL SHEETS; Network models; coefficient of friction; Friction performance; Lubrication /; Deep drawing steel}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1433-3015}, orcid-numbers = {Najm, Sherwan Mohammed/0000-0003-3412-0716} } @article{MTMT:34822025, title = {Comparative study of flame retardancy in polyimine vitrimers and composites: Evaluating additive and reactive flame retardants acting via gas-, solid-, and combined-phase mechanisms}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34822025}, author = {Toldy, Andrea and Poór, Dániel István and Szolnoki, Beáta and Devecser, Boglárka and Geier, Norbert and Pomázi, Ákos}, doi = {10.1016/j.jmst.2024.01.047}, journal-iso = {J MATER SCI TECHNOL}, journal = {JOURNAL OF MATERIALS SCIENCE & TECHNOLOGY}, volume = {196}, unique-id = {34822025}, issn = {1005-0302}, abstract = {We developed flame retarded polyimine type vitrimers and carbon fibre reinforced composites using two additive and a reactive flame retardant containing phosphorus: ammonium polyphosphate (APP), resorcinol bis(diphenyl phosphate) (RDP); and N,N',N’’-tris(2-aminoethyl)-phosphoric acid triamide (TEDAP). We characterised the vitrimer matrix materials by differential scanning calorimetry (DSC), thermal analysis (TGA), limiting oxygen index (LOI), UL-94 test and mass loss calorimetry (MLC), while the vitrimer composites by LOI, UL-94 test, MLC and dynamic mechanical analysis (DMA). We compared the performance of the vitrimer systems to a benchmark pentaerythritol-based aliphatic epoxy resin system (PER). The vitrimer reference had higher thermal stability but lower fire performance than the PER aliphatic reference epoxy. At lower phosphorus content, the vitrimer systems exhibited a melting above their vitrimer transition temperature, which negatively affected their LOI and UL-94 results. From 2% phosphorus content, rapid charring and extinguishing of vitrimers prevented the softening and deforming. The superior performance of these same flame retardants in vitrimer systems could be attributed to the high nitrogen content of imine-based vitrimers in combination with phosphorus flame retardants, exploiting nitrogen-phosphorus synergism. In both matrices, flame retardants with solid phase action lead to better fire performance, while in composites, the lowest peak heat release rates (152 kW/m2 in vitrimer composite) were achieved with RDP acting predominantly in the gas phase, as carbon fibres hindered the intumescent phenomenon. © 2024}, keywords = {PERFORMANCE; Nitrogen; differential scanning calorimetry; ADDITIVES; flame retardancy; carbon fibers; Thermoanalysis; calorimeters; Epoxy Resins; EPOXY; EPOXY; Benchmarking; Mass loss; fiber reinforced plastics; Flame retardants; Polymer composite; Polymer composite; Carbon fibre; fire performance; Limiting Oxygen Index; Flame-retardancy; Reactive flame retardants; vitrimer; vitrimer; Polyimines; polyimine}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1941-1162}, pages = {101-111}, orcid-numbers = {Toldy, Andrea/0000-0003-3569-1828; Poór, Dániel István/0000-0002-8036-7966; Szolnoki, Beáta/0000-0001-7214-9734; Geier, Norbert/0000-0001-7937-7246; Pomázi, Ákos/0000-0003-2969-8679} } @article{MTMT:34766482, title = {Feed optimization based on force modelling and TLBO algorithm in milling Al 7075}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34766482}, author = {Elly, Ogutu Isaya and Yin, Yang}, doi = {10.1007/s40430-024-04839-5}, journal-iso = {J BRAZ SOC MECH SCI}, journal = {JOURNAL OF THE BRAZILIAN SOCIETY OF MECHANICAL SCIENCES AND ENGINEERING}, volume = {46}, unique-id = {34766482}, issn = {1678-5878}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1806-3691}, orcid-numbers = {Elly, Ogutu Isaya/0009-0000-9857-1431} } @article{MTMT:34657361, title = {Current Trends in Metallic Materials for Body Panels and Structural Members Used in the Automotive Industry}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34657361}, author = {Trzepiecinski, Tomasz and Najm, Sherwan Mohammed}, doi = {10.3390/ma17030590}, journal-iso = {MATERIALS}, journal = {MATERIALS}, volume = {17}, unique-id = {34657361}, keywords = {STEEL; Automotive industry; Aluminium alloy; Titanium alloy; body panel}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1996-1944}, orcid-numbers = {Najm, Sherwan Mohammed/0000-0003-3412-0716} } @article{MTMT:34565460, title = {A comparative machinability analysis of polyimine vitrimer, epoxy and polycarbonate polymers through orthogonal machining experiments}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34565460}, author = {Poór, Dániel István and Tobey, Marina and Taynton, Philip and Pomázi, Ákos and Toldy, Andrea and Geier, Norbert}, doi = {10.1007/s00170-024-13087-9}, journal-iso = {INT J ADV MANUFACT TECHNOL}, journal = {INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ADVANCED MANUFACTURING TECHNOLOGY}, volume = {131}, unique-id = {34565460}, issn = {0268-3768}, abstract = {End-of-life management of fibre-reinforced thermoset composites is challenging due to the difficult-to-recycle reinforcements and the irreversibly polymerised thermoset matrix; therefore, researchers proposed the vitrimers as a sustainable alternative to thermosetting polymers. Reflecting on the temperature-dependent properties of vitrimers, the starting temperature of the cutting tool was varied between room temperature and an elevated temperature above 155 °C. The cutting tool was heated by a 2000-W hot air gun until the surface temperature of the cutting tool, monitored by a VariocamHD thermographic IR camera (with Jenoptik IR 1.0/60 LW lens) and checked by a Fluke 51 II thermometer with a type K thermocouple, was permanently above 155 °C for 5 min. The cutting force was measured by a Kistler 9257B dynamometer, and the machined surface was characterised by a Mitutoyo Surftest SJ-400 surface roughness tester and Keyence VHX-5000 (with VH-Z20UT VH lens) microscope.
