The first revolution introduced mechanisation, the second emphasised cognitive skills, and Industry 4.0 focuses on digital skills. Over the centuries, the required skills have transitioned from physical to digital. With the growing reliance on information, digital skills have become an essential resource in today's society. Purpose of the article: The study aims to illustrate the relationship between knowledge management and emerging technologies. It seeks to determine how this relationship varies based on company ownership. Methods: The main data for the survey was collected through an online questionnaire administered in 2022 using the Lime Survey platform. The survey targeted managers from companies operating in Hungary and received 5,207 valid responses. To test the hypotheses, both univariate and multivariate statistical methods were employed. Descriptive statistics provided an initial overview of the sample, while a multivariate regression model was utilised to address the research question. Findings & Value added: The results demonstrate that knowledge management projects, alongside technology intensity, significantly influence the adoption of emerging technologies, with a notable impact on financial performance. In terms of technology use and human factors, several efficiency barriers exist, the primary one being the workforce's lack of digital competencies. Foreign ownership positively affects all these aspects. Future research directions include conducting a qualitative survey through semi-structured interviews to validate the large quantitative dataset. Additionally, examining spatial differences, national cultures, and cultural clusters is important, as the results indicate that a company's operational processes, which influence the use of emerging technology in the international arena, are often shaped by the national culture of the parent company. Within the research activities of the National Laboratory for Social Innovation project, a research plan has been drawn up taking into account the quadruple helix model. The aim of this research is to map the social impacts of digitalisation based on the perspective of Hungarian experts. The research aims to map the social impact of digitalisation, its whether the perception of the impact of digitalisation on society depends on the individual perceptions of the experts involved in the research (age, education) or organisational (sector of the organisation represented). The research seeks to answer the following research questions: Q1. How can the social impact of digitalisation be described? Q2. Do individual (age, education) or organisational (sector of the organisation represented) characteristics influence the experts’ opinion? Q3. Are there any significant relationships between experts' responses to questions on the social impact of digitalisation and, if so, how strong are they? The data analysed are the results of a qualitative and quantitative, empirical survey carried out in 2021 with experts from academia, government, business and civil society. The former was conducted in the form of focus group interviews with invited experts (n=9) and the latter, in the form of an online questionnaire survey (n=78) using descriptive statistics and relationship analysis methods (Cramer's V and Kendall's Tau). The results show that the majority of experts consider the social impact of digitalisation to be rather positive, highlighting for example more efficient problem solving. It can be shown that the development of digitalisation requires a well thought-out but not over-regulated framework. As the transfer of knowledge improves, the opportunities for those who use digital technologies increase, but so does awareness of its harmful effects. The results can guide digital policy makers in identifying key areas for intervention. The empirical research, which was aimed at ascertaining the attitudes of SMEs, was conducted in June 2022 in the Visegrad Four countries. The selection of respondents was carried out by random sampling using the CAWI method. In the Czech Republic, the total number of respondents was 347, in the Slovak Republic, the total number of respondents was 322, in Poland, the total number of respondents was 381 and in Hungary, the total number of respondents was 348. The scientific hypotheses were verified through regression and correlation analysis. The empirical research yielded a number of interesting and stimulating scientific findings. The results showed that the selected factors in the financial management of SMEs have a significant impact on the formation of entrepreneurs' attitudes in the field of business ethics. Knowledge of the most important aspects of the firm’s financial management represents the most significant factor influencing the implementation of ethical aspects in the management process of SMEs and positive perceptions of business ethics in the context of financial performance. Other financial factors, namely entrepreneurs' belief that they can appropriately manage financial risks in the firm, a correct understanding of financial risk, and belief in the firm's survival in the medium term, have also shown a significant impact on business ethics. A surprising finding was that a positive assessment of a firm's current financial performance does not have any impact on the formation of attitudes towards business ethics. The representation and intensity of the effect of financial management factors on business ethics varies across the V4 countries. While the attitudes of SMEs in the Czech Republic, Slovakia and Poland have similar characteristics, Hungarian SMEs differ significantly from them. The first step is to study the behaviour of a small group. In this study, we analysed the habits of students at the University of Pannonia. We used the World Café method, which is an effective way of getting to know a situation from several perspectives and can help triggering collective reflection. The method is less used in the study of attitudes, behaviour and habits towards selective waste collection. In our research, one of the aims of applying the World Café method is to identify the barriers to selective waste collection among students at the University of Pannonia. Based on our results, the most common barriers that influence waste collection behaviour are lack of adequate infrastructure, lack of information and unwillingness to collect waste separately. The main components of the latter are lack of motivation, laziness, disinterest and indifference. The second goal is to collect, together with the participants, suggestions for solutions to the problems identified, at three different levels: micro (individual and family), mezzo (municipality, local government, employers) and macro (public, government, legislature). The results of this research could contribute to strengthening a circular economy model that takes into account the interests of society and the economy, including the transformation of habits related to selective waste collection. It will also serve as an output for further research and the development of educational content for changing waste collection habits.
