Then, I will argue that this phenomenon is already embedded in Galileo Galilei’s own practical (anti-metaphysical, proto-positivist) interpretation of his own principle of relativity, which is one of the core fundaments of our scientific worldview today. Finally, I will show that Polanyi’s critique of Galilean thinking and its neglect, moreover, denial of morality—in that it sharply separates science from morality— also has deeper roots. Polanyi’s critique is based on Samuel Alexander’s concept of emergence. Alexander’s concept is a broader philosophical understanding of the Galilean principle which solves the problem of moral inversion created by Galilei’s own narrow and practical interpretation of the principle. It does this by showing that relative centres are real and moral ascent is possible. © The Author(s), under exclusive license to Springer Nature Switzerland AG 2024.}, keywords = {emergence; Personal knowledge; Albert Einstein; Michael Polanyi; centres; Galileo Galilei; Moral inversion; Principle of reality; Samuel Alexander}, year = {2024}, pages = {233-249} } @article{MTMT:34830210, title = {Measuring Team Situation Awareness through Team Communication: A Study on Nuclear Main Control Room Crews}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34830210}, author = {Takács, Veronika Klára and Juhász, Márta}, journal-iso = {Journal of Emergency Management}, journal = {Journal of Emergency Management}, volume = {2}, unique-id = {34830210}, issn = {1543-5865}, abstract = {Situation awareness (SA) in complex socio-technical systems is considered a key cognitive activity, as control crews are often engaged in simultaneous task processes and are required to monitor and evaluate system parameters, making decisions and projections for the future accordingly. However, measuring SA at the team level is still a challenging area of research within the topic. In our research, we applied verbal protocol analysis as an alternative method to assess nuclear power plant control room crews’ team SA. We conducted a study of 10 control room crews, examining their intrateam communication and its relatedness to team performance. We have found that communication categories related to the second and third levels of team SA increased significantly after the onset of an emergency event. Furthermore, while none of the team communication categories was related to team performance before the emergency event, all of them showed a strong positive correlation with team performance after the emergency situation occurred. Our results underline the importance of adequate verbalization of key information within the team, so as to support the rapid and accurate development of team SA during emergency situations.}, year = {2024}, pages = {139-54}, orcid-numbers = {Juhász, Márta/0000-0002-3481-522X} } @{MTMT:34818733, title = {AZ AIRBNB SZEREPE NAPJAINKBAN. Several studies have focused on the usability evaluation of groupware, yet, both in terms of science and practice, there is a lack of a method that, like existing empirical single-user methods, can be routinely applied in software development practice. The new Team Usability Testing method differs from previous methods in that it is an empirical method for evaluating synchronous (real-time) collaborative software that explores the team usability problems with the help of real or potential users. The method consists of questionnaires, screen recording videos and group interviews, and the framework of data processing is based on the theory of the mechanics of collaboration. In the four steps of the development of the method, empirical studies under laboratory conditions and real working conditions, and then, for validation purposes, analytical, heuristic evaluation with the involvement of usability experts were performed. During the development and the application of the method, the communication patterns of different teams were examined in terms of their relationship to software usability. In this paper we present the results of the second laboratory study and the heuristic evaluation in details. Overall, the method is able to explore team usability problems of different types of teams, making it a valuable element in existing methods for evaluating the usability of groupware.}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1435-5566}, orcid-numbers = {Hercegfi, Károly/0000-0002-3015-7100} } @misc{MTMT:34789214, title = {Az Airbnb szerepe napjainkban.
