The lifetime prevalence of SIB is between 16 and 22% in community sample with females more likely to engage in SIB. There are conflicting results about the global distribution of the prevalence of SIB and whether the SIB has increased in the 21st century. Our aim in the current study was to conduct a systematic search of and meta-analysis on the prevalence of SIB in adolescents over the past 5 years’ worth of published papers and to examine gender, continental, and year differences. We conducted a systematic search in June 2020 of six databases (PubMed, Scopus, Web of Science, OVID Medline, PsycINFO, EBSCO) with three main search terms: “self-injurious behavior,” “prevalence,” and “adolescence.” Article inclusion criteria were (a) written in English; (b) published between January 1, 2015, and June 18, 2020; and (c) focused on a community sample. Titles and abstracts of the articles were screened first. Then, the relevant full texts were read, and those that met the inclusion criteria were collected. We used Comprehensive Meta-Analysis software was used to conduct the analyses. After the screening process 97, articles were included in the meta-analysis. The age of the samples ranged from 11.00 to 18.53 years. The overall average prevalence of nonsuicidal self-injury in the studies was 16%. There was a significant gender difference: females reported a higher prevalence than males (19.4% and 12.9%, respectively). A significantly higher prevalence was found among Asian articles than those from other continents (19.5% and 14.7%, respectively). The prevalence of SIB did not change significantly between 2013 and 2018. The current research draws attention to the high prevalence of SIB among adolescents, especially among females and those living in Asia. It is important to address this behavior, both in terms of prevention and intervention.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1435-165X}, pages = {In press}, orcid-numbers = {Kollárovics, Nóra/0000-0001-5610-2223} } @article{MTMT:33734930, title = {Mental health prevention program for Roma children and their families fleeing from Ukraine}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33734930}, author = {Balázs, Judit and Anna, Brandão and Kollárovics, Nóra and Farkas, Bernadett Frida and Roszik-Volovik, Xénia and Eszter, Frank-Bozóki}, journal-iso = {EUR PSYCHIAT}, journal = {EUROPEAN PSYCHIATRY}, volume = {66}, unique-id = {33734930}, issn = {0924-9338}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1778-3585}, pages = {S39}, orcid-numbers = {Balázs, Judit/0000-0001-6397-1419; Kollárovics, Nóra/0000-0001-5610-2223} } @misc{MTMT:33734160, title = {Autism in adolescents and young adulthood: diagnostic and differential diagnostic considerations, comorbidities}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33734160}, author = {Balázs, Judit and Kollárovics, Nóra}, unique-id = {33734160}, abstract = {Diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder (ASD), especially in adolescence and adulthood, can be a challenge even for experienced clinicians. ASD is manifested in a very heterogeneous way, even with the defined diagnostic criteria. Moreover, symptom formation in the same person also changes over time. Moreover, clients with ASD but not diagnosed often turn to psychiatric care with other diagnostic questions, and this often means that interacting and overlapping symptoms make it difficult to recognize the ASD behind surface. Consistent with research, the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders allows additional diagnoses among individuals with ASD. The prevalence of comorbid disorders among people with ASD varied across studies: it is suggested that 54-70% of children and adolescents with ASD have an associated psychiatric disorder, 41% of them have two or even more comorbidities and above 18 years even a higher prevalence of psychiatric comorbidity (up to 94%) is described compared to younger people with ASD. Comorbid psychiatric disorders can be anxiety, mood, eating, substance use, obsessive-compulsive and related, attention-deficit/hyperactivity, disruptive, impulse-control and conduct disorders, schizophrenia and suicidal behavior. Comorbid psychiatric disorders cause high burden to people with ASD. Therefore, it is insufficient not only to have adequate knowledge of the diagnostic aspects of ASD, but also to have a comprehensive picture about the associated psychiatric disorders and their interaction with ASD.
