In the current phase of the research programme, new, preliminary results have been provided on the settlement history of the site, primarily through a systematic metal detector survey. Based on the discovered metal objects, the south-eastern plateau of Somló Hill was inhabited primarily between the Rei Br C and Ha B2 phases, and life on the settlement was probably continuous during the Hallstatt Culture in EIA. In addition to briefly introducing our preliminary results, one of the four hoards, Hoard II from Somló Hill, is introduced. This assemblage was found by Győző Csaba Budai, a volunteer, on the once-inhabited part of the south-eastern plateau. Owing to his discovery, the in situ hoard was documented in excavation. The hoard consists of a handful of objects belonging to a few people, such as a gouge, six Lovasberény-type bracelets, three bracelets with rolled ends, two lumps, and a pseudo-winged axe. The arrangement and grouping of the objects within the assemblage reflect deliberate selection and deposition. The typo-chronological analysis of the objects from the second hoard of Somló Hill suggests that the assemblage was deposited around the younger LBA phase of the settlement in the Ha B1–Ha B2 phases.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2786-295X}, pages = {79-104}, orcid-numbers = {Tarbay, János Gábor/0000-0002-2363-7034} } @article{MTMT:34415528, title = {Re-evaluation of the Late Bronze Age "warrior equipment" from the collection of the Ministry of Defence, Military History Institute and Museum, Hungary.}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34415528}, author = {Tarbay, János Gábor and Maróti, Boglárka and Kis, Zoltán and Káli, György and Soós, Bence}, journal-iso = {J ARCHAEOL SCI REP}, journal = {JOURNAL OF ARCHAEOLOGICAL SCIENCE: REPORTS}, volume = {51}, unique-id = {34415528}, issn = {2352-409X}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2352-4103}, pages = {1-22}, orcid-numbers = {Tarbay, János Gábor/0000-0002-2363-7034; Maróti, Boglárka/0000-0001-9598-2913} } @article{MTMT:34190976, title = {Szalacska and the Hallstatt period metal vessels from Western Hungary}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34190976}, author = {Soós, Bence and Lukács, Balázs}, doi = {10.54640/CAH.2022.103}, journal-iso = {COMM ARCH HUNG}, journal = {COMMUNICATIONES ARCHAEOLOGICAE HUNGARIAE}, volume = {2022}, unique-id = {34190976}, issn = {0231-133X}, abstract = {Conventionally, Nagyberki-Szalacska is thought to be one of the most significant Early Iron Age sites in Western Hungary. Its importance is underlined by a few metal sheet fragments unearthed in 1941 during the looting of a tumulus of the Szalacska cemetery. Their rich decoration and the traces of the manufacturing process as well as other marks suggest that the metal sheet was used as a cover for a vessel made of some organic material. The decoration of the metal sheet provides new information regarding the cultural contacts between Nagyberki-Szalacska and the EIA centres of power in southeast Austria. In addition to the metal sheet fragments from Szalacska, a hitherto unpublished ensemble of bronze vessel fragments kept in the Hungarian National Museum highlights the need for a revision of the information about the EIA toureutics in western Hungary.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2786-295X}, pages = {103-128} } @{MTMT:33557840, title = {Women in the Late Hallstatt Phase in Southeast Transdanubia}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33557840}, author = {Soós, Bence}, booktitle = {Iron Age Female Identities in the Southern Carpathian Basin}, unique-id = {33557840}, abstract = {In the 6th cent. BC fundamental cultural changes took place in Transdanubia that affected the communities who lived in the region in various ways. Although details of this process are still obscure to a large extent, its consequences are clearly visible for instance in the southern part of Transdanubia. One phenomenon closely related to the subsequent period of consolidation is that contrary to previous phases of the Hallstatt Age women seem to be, at least according to the currently available data, archaeologically more recognizable in the funerary record, due chiefly to the rich attire assemblages including astragal belts and Certosa fibulae. Such attire sets strongly suggest that communities living between the Kapos and Sava Rivers established and maintained strong contacts in the 5th cent. BC. This raises a number of fair questions. Firstly, what kind of data is at our hand to prove whether such attire sets are strictly associated with women? Secondly, how should this phenomenon be interpreted in social terms and what kind of role women might have played in the interaction networks of the region? And more broadly, how are women displayed in funerary contexts? A what kind of transformations took place? This paper endeavours to find possible answers to these questions by re-evaluating old data as well as by looking at the evidence provided by recently discovered sites in southern Transdanubia.}, year = {2022}, pages = {172-197} } @{MTMT:33089920, title = {A Delhaes-gyűjtemény késő bronzkori és vaskori tárgyainak restaurálása}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33089920}, author = {Tarbay, János Gábor and Soós, Bence}, booktitle = {Kincset érő közösség}, unique-id = {33089920}, year = {2022}, pages = {47-48} } @{MTMT:32767924, title = {Bound by belts: Modelling social networks in the early medieval Carpathian Basin, 7th to 9th centuries AD}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/32767924}, author = {Soós, Bence and Szenthe, Gergely Pál}, booktitle = {EUSN 2021 Book of Abstracts 5th European Conference on Social Networks}, unique-id = {32767924}, year = {2022}, pages = {94-94} } @{MTMT:32560251, title = {Parallels of the Late Bronze Age Warrior Equipment from the Collection of the MoD MHIM}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/32560251}, author = {Tarbay, János Gábor and Soós, Bence}, doi = {10.17632/x4p7xxjwmk.1}, unique-id = {32560251}, year = {2021} } @article{MTMT:32557309, title = {Follow the Rivers?.
