With the proliferation of weather-dependent renewable generation units, system flexibility is a key issue, as there is still considerable uncertainty in forecasting their generation, and therefore a need for reliable conventional balancing back-up. As a result of these developments, the demand for balancing is constantly increasing and the various charges for this-balancing capacity and balancing energy charges-are also increasing at an ever-faster pace. For the system operator, the system level services provided by rapidly controllable units are becoming more valuable. This represents a new business opportunity for generators, in particular gas-fired power plants, as these units are one of the most reliable ways to meet this existing demand. I chose gas-fired power plants because of their fast start-up and their fast and cheap investment compared to combined cycle gas turbine power plants. In addition, their combined heat and power generation capability means that they can also be used to support the district heating system, making them a real business alternative for district heating companies. They have been widely used in Hungary for more than a decade and are nearing the end of their life expectancy, so it is timely to explore the business potential of gas engines. In the balancing market, energy storage, including batteries, will be able to gain ground alongside gas-fired power plants due to their fast control capabilities. The combination of both units-gas engine and storage-could thus lead to even better opportunities. In my thesis, I have created a model of a gas engine power plant that gives the optimal operating point based on market data (electricity, gas, balancing control capacity, heat, carbon dioxide quota prices, etc.). In addition, the various costs and sources of revenue are obtained, based on which I have also carried out an economic and payback calculation. I then added a battery storage to the model and investigated how its schedule and payback would change; and what impact it would have on its operation. © 2024 IEEE.}, keywords = {ENERGY; Gas engines; Energy markets; Energy storage; Optimal scheduling; Optimal operation; COAL; Combined cycle power plants; Virtual storage; Battery storage; BATTERY; BATTERY; Boilers; Gas turbine power plants; ancillary service; TAXATION; ancillary services; Business case; Power markets; Hybrid power plant; nuclear batteries; Gas engine; hybrid power plants; Electricity system; Gas-fired power plants}, year = {2024} } @article{MTMT:34946437, title = {Nem mért fotovillamos termelés rendszerterhelési görbére vetített hatásainak elemzése}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34946437}, author = {Sinkovics, Bálint and Barancsuk, Lilla and Dr. Hartmann, Bálin}, journal-iso = {ELEKTROTECHNIKA}, journal = {ELEKTROTECHNIKA}, volume = {117}, unique-id = {34946437}, issn = {0367-0708}, year = {2024}, pages = {21-25}, orcid-numbers = {Barancsuk, Lilla/0000-0002-3036-0133} } @{MTMT:34935757, title = {CHAPTER ELEVEN STATE ESTIMATION ON A LOW VOLTAGE GRID CONSIDERING THE EFFECT OF HOUSEHOLD}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34935757}, author = {Táczi, István and Sinkovics, Bálint and Barancsuk, Lilla and Vokony, István}, booktitle = {Trends in Renewable Energy and Power Quality}, unique-id = {34935757}, keywords = {state estimation; Distributed generation; Distribution system}, year = {2024}, pages = {164-177}, orcid-numbers = {Táczi, István/0000-0002-0835-0481; Barancsuk, Lilla/0000-0002-3036-0133} } @article{MTMT:34865848, title = {Az égboltkamerák szerepe a fotovillamos termelés rövidtávú előrejelzésében}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34865848}, author = {Günter, Dalma and Barancsuk, Lilla and Groma, Veronika and Sinkovics, Bálint}, journal-iso = {ELEKTROTECHNIKA}, journal = {ELEKTROTECHNIKA}, volume = {116}, unique-id = {34865848}, issn = {0367-0708}, year = {2023}, pages = {7-10} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34571291, title = {Optimizing Renewable Energy Communities for Local Consumption Patterns in Hungary}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34571291}, author = {Barancsuk, Lilla and Hartmann, Bálint and Lorenti, Gianmarco and Repetto, Maurizio and Sinkovics, Bálint}, booktitle = {OIPE 17th International Workshop on Optimization and Inverse Problems in Electromagnetism}, unique-id = {34571291}, year = {2023} } @article{MTMT:34231293, title = {METHODOLOGY FOR DEVELOPMENT OF AN ELECTRIC CHARGING SYNTHETIC LOAD PROFILE}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34231293}, author = {Mátrai, Tamás and Kertész, Dávid and Sinkovics, Bálint and Hartmann, Bálint}, doi = {10.1049/icp.2022.0675}, journal-iso = {IET CONF PROC}, journal = {IET CONFERENCE PROCEEDINGS}, volume = {2022}, unique-id = {34231293}, year = {2022}, eissn = {2732-4494}, pages = {118-122} } @misc{MTMT:33288987, title = {P2P local market concept with dynamic network usage tariff via asset enablement–Horizon2020 project demo experiences}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33288987}, author = {Vokony, I and Salama, H and Barancsuk, Lilla and Sinkovics, Bálint and Sores, P and Hartmann, Bálint and Táczi, István}, unique-id = {33288987}, year = {2022}, orcid-numbers = {Barancsuk, Lilla/0000-0002-3036-0133; Táczi, István/0000-0002-0835-0481} } @article{MTMT:33287244, title = {A gázmotoros áramszolgáltatás üzleti lehetőségei az egészségügyi szektorban}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33287244}, author = {Vokony, István and Sinkovics, Bálint and Sőrés, Péter Márk and Divényi, Dániel and Szalmáné Csete, Mária}, doi = {10.35551/PSZ_2022_3_6}, journal-iso = {PÉNZÜGYI SZEMLE}, journal = {PÉNZÜGYI SZEMLE/PUBLIC FINANCE QUARTERLY (1963-)}, volume = {67}, unique-id = {33287244}, issn = {0031-496X}, abstract = {A kutatásban új energiatermelő eszközökre alapozva a hő- és villamos energia biztosítása mellett helyben a szünetmentes ellátást szavatoló – telephelyen kívülre rendszerszintű szolgáltatás értékesítésére építő – üzemeltetési koncepciót alakítottunk ki. Based on international experience in the sector, the overall business concept needs to be developed for successful pilot projects. The trends in the technical-economic and regulatory environment examined show that the direction of change, with uncertain outcomes today, is unanimous: they all support the market penetration and the continued profitability of smallscale power plant devices suitable for secondary regulation. An important task is to identify unique elements in the value propositions.
