	abstract = {In recent decades, there has been significant scientific effort to explore and measure the different benefits of cycling. Thanks to the research done in this field, nowadays we have extensive knowledge about the contributions of cycling to the reduction of transportation related air pollution, health related benefits and other socio-economic advantages. Despite the scientific evidence, methodologies for cost-benefit analysis (CBA) have not been updated to take into account all benefits of cycling when making decisions on the realization of bicycle infrastructure projects. By omitting these specific benefits, policy and decision-makers might underestimate the overall societal benefit of these projects. This contribution introduces an update of the CBA methodology for cycling infrastructure projects by looking at the scientific evidence on the different benefits of cycling. © 2023 The Authors. 	abstract = {A kerékpározás népszerűsége a Covid19-járvány korlátozásainak pozitív mellékhatásaként világszerte megnőtt. A tendencia magas potenciált hordoz az élhető városi mobilitás és a fenntartható turizmus térnyeréséhez. Tanulmányunk Budapestet mint belföldi turisztikai desztinációt vizsgálja, a kerékpáros infrastruktúra megítélésére fókuszálva. Kérdőíves kutatásunk 112 kitöltő válaszait tartalmazza. A mintát Budapest és környékének lakosai, illetve vidéki lakosok körére bontottuk. Az eredmények alapján Budapest mint aktív turisztikai desztináció megítélése a vidéki kitöltők körében kedvezőtlenebb, elsősorban a megközelíthetőség és az élményígéret kapcsán. A válaszok alapján a főváros vonzerejének növelése érdekében az infrastruktúra minősége, a járműforgalom volumene és a kerékpárosbarát szolgáltatások köre sürget beavatkozást, fejlesztést.},

	abstract = {Subsidising public transport is a widely used policy, normally justified by redistributional objectives. Frequent use of subsidies, however, does not mean uniformity, as the actual subsidy rate varies between countries and cities. Excessive subsidisation of public transport can also be criticised by the presence of externalities, most importantly on-board crowding. This paper revisits Parry & Small (2009), one of the most influential contributions in the recent history of public transport economics. Despite the popularity of the Parry–Small model, it neglects existing empirical evidence on the effects of crowding on passengers’ wellbeing. The purpose of the present study is to redesign and recalibrate their model by expressing crowding disutility as a multiplier of the value of in-vehicle travel time, and also to extend the analysis to the context of the Hungarian interurban transport system. Our results show that the crowding externality is a critical component of optimal pricing, as it decreases the optimal subsidy rate by 4 to 29%, even at a moderate level of capacity utilisation. This means that optimal fares are higher than they were previously found. We extend the original analysis to the case of Hungarian interurban transport and highlight the model’s sensitivity to the assumed substitution pattern.},
