AB  - A kerámiaedények egyszerű formai leírásán túl az elemzések egyre általánosabb elemévé válik a tárgyak funkcionális szempontú vizsgálata és értelmezése. Ehhez azonban fontos, hogy a hazai kutatásban mélyen gyökerező megnevezések és formai asszociációk jelentette funkcionális kategorizálást újabb és újabb módszerekkel vizsgáljuk és szükség esetén az egyes kategóriákat finomítsuk vagy akár újraértelmezzük. Cikkünkben a fazék, mint főzőedény általános kérdéskörét vesszük górcső alá. Célunk, hogy felhívjuk a figyelmet a formai jellemzők mellett a kérdésbe bevonható további szempontokra, különös tekintettel a használati nyomok vizsgálatára. A cikkben egy 2022-ben végzett kísérleti főzéssorozat általános módszertani tárgyalása mellett a kísérlet során tesztelt különféle technikák közül a nyíltszíni főzés egyik formája kerül részletes bemutatásra. A kísérleti régészet eszközeivel az edények főzés közbeni átalakulását vizsgáljuk, arra a kérdésre keresve a választ, hogy a tűz milyen jellegzetes, főzésre utaló nyomokat hagy a fazekakon.

AB  - Surpassing mere typological description, pottery analyses have recently been increasingly engaged in evaluating the functional roles of vessels and reconstructing the nuanced ways they could have been used in the past. Therefore, it has become necessary to apply scientific methods and examine, specify, and sometimes re-interpret the current typological framework rooted in traditional denominations and morphological associations. This paper investigates the generic roles of cooking pots, taking, besides morphological characteristics, use-wear traces into account. The article presents a detailed description of the general methodology applied in a series of cooking experiments in 2022 and one of the open-air cooking methods. The goal of the experiments was to reconstruct and document the transformation pottery vessels undergo during cooking, including the characteristic traces of cooking-related changes induced by high temperatures and contact with fire.

AB  - In 2011, in the Late Bronze Age settlement of Pusztataskony-Ledence, situated next to the Tisza River, a timber lined well (Kastenbrunnen, rováskút) with a preserved wooden structure and a large number of finds came to light. Based on the position, composition, and quality of the abundant finds found in the well infill, it is possible to reconstruct the manipulation and special treatment of household waste and its structured deposit at the well bottom. Throughout history, a series of diverse and complex rituals connected directly or indirectly to wells can be observed. This role derives from the close connection of man to water and the well. This function may appear earlier in the Life stage of the well’s life cycle, however, it culminates in the phase of Afterlife. By studying the Afterlife of the Pusztataskony well and other prehistoric examples, we attempt to outline and understand this special relationship. At the same time, we aim to define the archaeological characteristics and criteria to identify these ritual functions and meanings.
