Wood is one of the best examples for this, as it is a material that has a variety of primary uses, while also being a prime candidate for reuse and recycling. An important phase in most waste wood value chains is the processing of bulk waste from various sources, usually by means of shredding. This paper presents methods for scheduling the machines in such a waste wood processing facility, where incoming deliveries of different types of wood are processed by a series of treatment and transformation steps to produce shredded wood. Two mathematical models are developed for the problem that both allow overlaps between consecutive steps to optimize resource flow through the system. One of these is a more traditional discrete-time model, while the other is precedence-based and uses continuous-time variables for the timing of the various tasks. Both modeling techniques have their advantages and shortcomings with regard to the ease of integration of further problem-specific parameters and requirements. Next to providing a sound approach for the identified problem class, another aim is to evaluate, which technique suits better for this problem class, and should be used as a basis for extended and integrated cases in the future. Thus, the performance of these models is compared on instances that were randomly generated based on real-world distributions from the literature.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1613-9178}, pages = {853-871}, orcid-numbers = {Ősz, Olivér/0000-0001-5306-0451; Dávid, Balázs/0000-0003-4414-4797; Hegyháti, Máté/0000-0003-3689-9866} } @article{MTMT:32761469, title = {A general framework for evaluating driver schedules in public transport}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/32761469}, author = {Balogh, János and Dávid, Balázs and Krész, Miklós and Tóth, Attila and Tóth, László}, doi = {10.20858/tp.2022.17.1.14}, journal-iso = {TRANSP PROBL / PROBLEMY TRANSPORTU / INT SCI J}, journal = {TRANSPORT PROBLEMS / PROBLEMY TRANSPORTU: INTERNATIONAL SCIENTIFIC JOURNAL}, volume = {17}, unique-id = {32761469}, issn = {1896-0596}, year = {2022}, eissn = {2300-861X}, pages = {163-174}, orcid-numbers = {Tóth, Attila/0000-0003-1014-7965} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:32564741, title = {Rétegelt lemezek gyártásának ütemezése}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/32564741}, author = {Garab, József and Ősz, Olivér and Dávid, Balázs and Hegyháti, Máté}, booktitle = {XXXIV. It consists of multiple steps that have to be performed sequentially. As the output of a step acts as an input for the next one, using optimization tools to aid the design process can help in achieving a better overall quality or a particular design. In this paper, we present a heuristic method that can provide useful suggestions in a short time for the structural design of a building based on preliminary plans. We also introduce a mathematical model that can be used as quality control of the results. © Proceedings of the 15th International Symposium on Operational Research, SOR 2019.
