Cigarette waste, which is typically discarded as a non-recyclable material, poses a significant environmental challenge due to its toxicity and slow decomposition rate. However, by incorporating this waste into ceramic bricks, new approaches for waste management and resource utilization are explored. This research work provides a detailed evaluation of the possibility of utilizing natural zeolite tuff incorporated with cigarette waste to produce sustainable ceramic bricks. Uniform powders are produced by milling various combinations of zeolitic tuff and cigarette waste using a planetary ball mill. The substitution ratios ranged from 0% to 12% by weight of the zeolitic tuff, with increments of 2%. Ceramic discs were formed by dry pressing and then subjected to sintering at different heat treatment temperatures (950–1250 °C). The impact of the inclusion of cigarette waste on the microstructural and technical features of zeolite tuff-based ceramic bricks has been thoroughly investigated. The results of the experiments demonstrate that incorporating cigarette waste into the development of ceramic bricks leads to improved thermal insulation properties, with thermal conductivity ranging from 0.33 to 0.93 W/m·K. Additionally, these bricks exhibit a lighter weight in a range of 1.45 to 1.96 g/cm3. Although the inclusion of cigarette waste slightly reduces the compressive strength, with values ranging from 6.96 to 58.6 MPa, it still falls within the acceptable range specified by standards. The inclusion of cigarette waste into zeolite tuff is an innovative approach and sustainable practice for reducing energy consumption in buildings while simultaneously addressing the issue of waste disposal and pollution mitigation.}, year = {2024}, eissn = {2075-5309} } @inbook{MTMT:34417290, title = {Changes of pyrite oxidation rate in function of time - a case study on bolivian sulphidic mine waste material from the itos Sn-Ag ore deposit}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34417290}, author = {Móricz, Ferenc and Mádai, Ferenc}, booktitle = {Új eredmények a műszaki föld- és környezettudományban 2023}, unique-id = {34417290}, year = {2023}, pages = {283-292} } @inbook{MTMT:34417269, title = {A rudabányai baritos képződmények ásványtani és főelem geokémiai jellemzői}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34417269}, author = {Fodor, Péter and Kasó, Attila and Földessy, János and Móricz, Ferenc and Debus, Délia and Kristály, Ferenc}, booktitle = {Új eredmények a műszaki föld- és környezettudományban 2023}, unique-id = {34417269}, year = {2023}, pages = {252-260}, orcid-numbers = {Kristály, Ferenc/0000-0002-0075-5994} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:34396161, title = {Origin and preservation of cyclic successions in different environments of the Dachstein platform system around the Triassic-Jurassic boundary}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34396161}, author = {Vallner, Zsolt and Emma, Blanka Kovács and János, Haas and Móricz, Ferenc and Micha, Ruhl and Zajzon, Norbert and Zsófia, Kovács and József, Pálfy}, booktitle = {36th International Meeting of Sedimentology}, unique-id = {34396161}, year = {2023}, pages = {373} } @article{MTMT:33712669, title = {Preservation of orbital forcing in intraplatform carbonates and an astronomical time frame for a multiproxy record of end-Triassic global change from a western Tethyan section (Csővár, Hungary)}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33712669}, author = {Vallner, Zsolt and Kovács, E.B. and Haas, János and Móricz, Ferenc and Ruhl, M. and Zajzon, Norbert and Pálfy, József}, doi = {10.1016/j.palaeo.2023.111493}, journal-iso = {PALAEOGEOGR PALAEOCL}, journal = {PALAEOGEOGRAPHY PALAEOCLIMATOLOGY PALAEOECOLOGY}, volume = {617}, unique-id = {33712669}, issn = {0031-0182}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1872-616X}, orcid-numbers = {Haas, János/0000-0003-0929-8889; Pálfy, József/0000-0001-9686-1849} } @article{MTMT:33078530, title = {Metavolcanic formations in the Paraautochthonous Triassic successions of the Bükk Mts, NE Hungary}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33078530}, author = {Németh, Norbert and Kristály, Ferenc and Gál, Péter and Móricz, Ferenc and Haranginé Lukács, Réka}, doi = {10.1007/s00531-022-02246-6}, journal-iso = {INT J EARTH SCI}, journal = {INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF EARTH SCIENCES}, volume = {112}, unique-id = {33078530}, issn = {1437-3254}, abstract = {The Bükk Mts. in NE Hungary exposes Paleozoic and Mesozoic successions containing volcanic formations both in the oceanic crust-derived Szarvaskő Unit and in the continental crust-derived Paraautochthonous Unit. The rocks of this latter unit were subject of multiple metamorphic, also metasomatic alterations and deformation events obscuring and overprinting original petrographic and geochemical characteristics and producing a complex structure in which stratigraphic relationships are not always possible to be identified. This situation was leading to various stratigraphic hypotheses. This study aims to provide a basis for distinguishing metavolcanic formations using trace element geochemical data combined with quantitative mineralogical data based on XRD and EPMA. Our data were obtained from a wide range of samples collected in the Bükk Mts. Mineralogy and major element geochemistry reflect regional Alpine metamorphism and local alteration processes but high field strength elements remained relatively stable during most of these processes except local HFSE enrichment. Zr/TiO 2 , Nb/Y and Nb/Ta ratios were effectively used for classifying the rocks into three formations: Bagolyhegy Metarhyolite, Szentistvánhegy Metavolcanics and Szinva Metabasalt. Bagolyhegy Metarhyolite is a unique volcanic formation formed from highly differentiated and HFSE-depleted magma, probably in a single volcanic centre of uncertain age. Szentistvánhegy Metavolcanics comprises heterogeneous rocks of a calc-alkaline arc-type suite with wide distribution in a Ladinian chronostratigraphic horizon. Szinva Metabasalt represents within-plate-type alkaline lava flows and adjacent volcaniclastic, mostly peperitic rocks embedded in Carnian platform and basin facies limestone formations. Like the sedimentary formations of the Bükk Mts, rocks of magmatic origin can be correlated with the formations of the South Alpine and Dinaric successions with the significant difference that abundant metavolcanics are not accompanied by intrusive bodies.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1437-3262}, pages = {297-320}, orcid-numbers = {Németh, Norbert/0000-0002-4264-5136; Kristály, Ferenc/0000-0002-0075-5994; Haranginé Lukács, Réka/0000-0002-2338-4209} } @inbook{MTMT:33314538, title = {Changes of Pyrite Oxidation Rate in Function of Time}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33314538}, author = {Móricz, Ferenc and Mádai, Ferenc and Kristály, Ferenc and Walder, F. An evaluation method supported by robust statistical analysis was elaborated to provide the possible future investors with adequate technical and earth-science related information for their decision-making processes. All the available data of 161 abandoned hydrocarbon wells, with different physical conditions, were examined based on the proposed evaluation system to provide information about the geothermal energy potential for each well, as well as over a bigger area. The abandoned wells and their environments, the quantity of stored heat, and the fluid temperature and geothermal heat were the key parameters determined, which are critical when considering geothermal energy utilization or thermal water production. The maximum amount of stored energy was determined as the sum of the amount of energy extractable from the rock and the fluid. The heat stored in the rock was determined by basin modelling. The evaluation process, using one-dimensional (1D) basin modelling and 3D lithological-stratigraphic modelling, was successfully applied in the pilot area. The maximum amount of heat stored in the fluid can be determined by subtracting the heat stored in the rock from the total heat. Drilling and completing geothermal wells are rather expensive in Hungary, depending on the depth and the types of geological formations. The application of this research could greatly reduce the cost and risk of creating new geothermal energy systems based on production wells or abandoned wells in Hungary or elsewhere.}, year = {2022}, eissn = {1435-0157}, pages = {2267-2284}, orcid-numbers = {Zákányi, Balázs Zsolt/0000-0003-1848-2688; Ilyés, Csaba/0000-0002-5328-8023; Fekete, Zsombor/0000-0001-8754-8690; Szilvási, Marcell/0009-0000-4900-2654} } @inproceedings{MTMT:33212388, title = {EIT-label minősítés elvárásai nemzetközi mesterszakok esetében a TIMREX nyersanyagkutató közös képzés példáján}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33212388}, author = {Mádai, Ferenc and Móricz, Ferenc}, booktitle = {Földtani és Geofizikai Vándorgyűlés: a jövő ösvényein}, unique-id = {33212388}, year = {2022}, pages = {34-37} }
