To solve this problem the Ayrton-Perry formula was generalized for the case of beams and beam-columns and new formulae for the buckling resistance proposed. The objective of this paper was the calibration of the introduced formulae to examine the suitability of the application of them for design procedures in practice. The strategy of the research work was the production of a database withadequate number of results of numerical simulations, which is appropriate for the calibration and for the proposal of calibrated expressions to calculate the lateral-torsional buckling resistance of bended structural elements. Thereafter the results of the virtual tests were compared with the results calculated with the new expressions and the resistances determined withthe procedures given in the EN 1993-1-1, and the novel Ayrton-Perry formulae were evaluated.}, keywords = {doktori iskola: Vásárhelyi Pál Építőmérnöki és Földtudományi}, year = {2012}, pages = {1-8} }
