Surrogate modelling techniques were involved to efficiently calculate the Sobol’ indices as a measure of uncertainty quantification (UQ). This approach helps to appraise the contributions of different pa-rameters in the lower frequency range, where the well-stirred con-dition cannot be established, yielding a proficient apparatus for the stirrer, the chamber design, and the measurement process. The main focus is now to investigate the effect of the stirrer orientation (hor-izontal or vertical) on the SA measures. AB - A finite-element (FE) A-V formulation is developed to solve electromagnetic quasistatic (EMQS), aka Darwin, problems in the time and frequency domains by making use of a two-domain continuity gauging strategy. The formulation utilizes the magnetic vector and the electric scalar potentials, and an additional scalar in the conducting regions to make the discretized Galerkin system symmetric. The resulting FE matrix is low-frequency (LF) stable in the frequency domain. As a result, the time-step size is not limited by the characteristics of the system matrix in the backward Euler time-stepping scheme. The system matrixes are also regular, which allows choosing a direct solver to speed up the temporal solution significantly. The formulation is verified in both the frequency and the time domains by solving benchmark problems, and the results are compared to full-wave and eddy-current solutions. A kriging metamodel is utilized to substitute the computationally expensive full-wave simulation model of a certain RC. This black-box approach provides an efficient apparatus for the stirring and chamber design process. Certain litz wires are fabricated by simply twisting the bundle of strands, hence a wire pitch is realized. In this paper, the ac resistance of coils made of such twisted litz wire are calculated by combining two-dimensional finite element simulation and circuit laws. In so doing, the inherently three-dimensional problem can be solved at much lower computational cost. Results are presented for the current distribution, and for the alternating current resistance of coils, validated against measured data.
