A Mohácsi Nemzeti Emlékhely öt tömegsírja közül, a Duna-Dráva Nemzeti Park felkérésére a Janus Pannonius Múzeum 2020. augusztus közepén megkezdte a III. számú tömegsír újrafeltárását. A feltárás és a sír tudományos vizsgálata régészek és antropológusok közös együttműködésével történt meg. Jelen munka a régészeti leletanyag közlésére és az elsődleges feldolgozásból származó értelmezési lehetőségek bemutatására vállalkozik.
		
		One of the most important sources of the Battle of Mohács is the group of mass graves discovered near the village of Sátorhely (SW Hungary) in the 1950s and 1970s that were then partially excavated but left in place. Among the five mass graves of the Mohács Historical Memorial Site, at the request of the Danube-Drava National Park, the Janus Pannonius Museum re-excavated mass grave no. III. The excavation and research of the grave has been carried out by a team of archaeologists and anthropologists. The present work aims to publish the archaeological finds and to present the interpretation possibilities resulting from the primary processing.
		Most of the material found in mass graves is related to clothing. Most of these are hook and eye closures and aglets mainly made of copper alloy. The closures can be grouped into four types on the basis of their formal characteristics and metric data. The context of vesture can be inferred based on the known late medieval burials (upper clothing, sleeve and trouser closures). Other objects found in smaller numbers (buckles, beads, ring, golden florin) can also be associated with clothing. Among the weapon finds, two arrowheads and two projectiles were found, of which one arrowhead is certain, and another arrowhead and a lead bullet can be assumed to have been pierced into the body and entered the mass grave.
		The archaeological finds of the mass grave are a primary source for the identification of traces of the Battle of Mohács, and thus for the construction and revision of theories aimed at determining the location of the battle and modeling the sequence of events.},

	abstract = {In 2009, the Janus Pannonius Museum in Pécs renewed the archaeological research of the Battle of Mohács (1526) with outside partners (Bertók et al. 2020, 107–118). The goals of the initiative have been to identify the exact location of the historic clashes, reconstruct the chain of the related events, and conduct a scientific analysis of the final resting place of the soldiers who fell on the battlefield. We planned to complete the project by the upcoming 500th anniversary of the battle. In our hopes, this research has enabled an expansion of the current national memorial site where the remains of the heroes who sacrified their lives to protect their Hungarian homeland could finally be laid to rest. The project has provided us with a fitting opportunity to summarize previous work and present the findings of the archaeological excavations conducted in 2020–2021.},
