Waste disposal and incineration are the most important elements of the modern waste management system. The handling, disposal and burning of residential wastes have significant fire safety risks. In this article, the authors examine the fire protection characteristics of landfills, the legal background of their operation, the causes and circumstances of the individual fires that have occurred, the measures to increase the efficiency, as well as the technical and technological possibilities of fire safety operations. Definition of the concept of Disaster Science, delimitation of its individual components from its concept, and further terminological examination of related elements. On the one hand, this is conducted with the help of the Internet and the so-called keyword search method in the Google search engine, specifically by searching for definitions, then by collecting the individual publications and the relevant bodies and organisations and analysing their use of terminology. The frequency of occurrence of disasters around the world is constantly increasing, their destructive effects can increasingly be felt. Their averting and elimination generally exceed the national level of protection, so the research results should be given priority. Among the conclusions of this publication stands the research priorities of Disaster Research having different disciplines, and due to its multi-, inter- and transdisciplinary nature, there is no unified consensus regarding the methodology and terms. The availability of literature of sociological origin is ensured, however, few works have been produced in Hungary on this topic, for instance, and even in the field of analysis of the effects of natural disasters. The Author analyses the elements of Disaster Science in an interdisciplinary manner, combining several disciplines, provides insight into Disaster Science and its research areas, and in terms of literary resources, the reader can get to know many, primarily international literature. We examine the increase in efficiency through the applicability of smart devices and moreover we analyze the issue from two sides, one, from the authority side, and on the other, from the public side. The need to increase safety and its sustainability is also important, since the increase in the number of facilities that are a potential source of danger, increases the number of authority cases, and this rate of economic growth presupposes. We also prioritize high-quality work and further improvement. Our goals, systemic resilience improve is extremely important in the professional disaster management organization. Since in our ever-faster changing modern world, we are faced with new challenges, against which our system must be equipped with a protective net of flexible resistance. In order to achieve the goals, we use both quantitative and qualitative methods, such as questionnaire research, interviews, document and content analysis, measurements, and statistical analysis of their data.
