This is not just in our private lives, but also in various areas of business, government, and administration. The rapid development of electronic information systems is making us more efficient, but our growing competence is also making us more dependent on IT services. The infiltration of IT services into our business processes is also triggering the development of cybercrime. The number and the complexity of cyber-attacks in cyberspace are increasing, and the damage caused by cybercriminals is growing therefore the need to defend against attacks from cyberspace is urgent. There are several possible areas of defence, one of them relating to information security awareness. In addition to the importance of awareness raising, this publication focuses on awareness raising among senior executives. Senior executives in organisations can be the focus of targeted cyber-attacks much earlier, because they have a higher level of authorisation, access to more systems, more sensitive information in their e-mail correspondence, etc. The role of senior executive awareness is therefore indispensable to reduce the risks. However, as managers' time is limited, it is necessary to find the right theme and timeframe for awarenessraising. The threats they face, and how to protect themselves against them must be communicated in the language they can understand. Also, in addition to explaining the impact of threats, the results of risk analyses should be used to effectively communicate protective measures and the dangers of residual risks.}, keywords = {awareness; RESILIENCE; Information Security; Cyber security; Cyberspace}, year = {2023}, pages = {1054-1061}, orcid-numbers = {Magyar, Sándor/0000-0002-6085-0598; Tóth, András/0000-0001-6098-3262; Bányász, Péter/0000-0002-7308-9304} } @inbook{MTMT:34117199, title = {Social Media Issues and Fake News}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34117199}, author = {Jakusné Harnos, Éva and Demeter, Márton and Bányász, Péter}, booktitle = {Security, Resilience and Sustainability of the European Union}, unique-id = {34117199}, abstract = {Human communication is founded on complex rules of behaviour comprising language use, institutionalised news production and news consumption as well as social and international communication. Conventional norms are transferred to mediatised communication due to the slow adaptation of society to the technological changes accelerating since the early 20th century. As a result, individuals and groups are more susceptible to deception in an online environment where factors of interpersonal and social communication are blurred or faked without the targets noticing it. The World Wide Web, and especially social media, seem to image physical reality and society but, in fact, they are an edited imitation. The slow psychological and legal adjustment of society to technological and the resulting political disruption make our communities highly vulnerable to adverse external influence. The aim of this chapter is to increase resilience by highlighting three major areas in which accepted norms are most often challenged unnoticed: language use, journalism and content creation, and the alteration of perception of context and community.}, keywords = {bots; trolls; Fake News; context; deceptive language; standards of journalism}, year = {2023}, pages = {131-147}, orcid-numbers = {Jakusné Harnos, Éva/0000-0002-4973-5011; Demeter, Márton/0000-0002-9888-9682; Bányász, Péter/0000-0002-7308-9304} } @misc{MTMT:34104235, title = {The role of information security awareness for senior executives - konferencia előadás}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34104235}, author = {Magyar, Sándor and Tóth, András and Bányász, Péter}, unique-id = {34104235}, year = {2023}, orcid-numbers = {Magyar, Sándor/0000-0002-6085-0598; Tóth, András/0000-0001-6098-3262; Bányász, Péter/0000-0002-7308-9304} } @article{MTMT:34061776, title = {The Opportunities and Security Risks of Mobile Applications in the Context of Local Economic Development}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34061776}, author = {Koller, Marco and Bányász, Péter}, doi = {10.32565/aarms.2023.2.1}, journal-iso = {AARMS (2014 VOL.13 ISSUE 2 -TŐL)}, journal = {ACADEMIC AND APPLIED RESEARCH IN MILITARY AND PUBLIC MANAGEMENT SCIENCE}, volume = {22}, unique-id = {34061776}, issn = {2498-5392}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2786-0744}, pages = {5-22}, orcid-numbers = {Bányász, Péter/0000-0002-7308-9304} } @article{MTMT:33833432, title = {Crisis Communication during Covid–19}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33833432}, author = {Bányász, Péter}, doi = {10.32567/hm.2023.1.7}, journal-iso = {HADMÉRNÖK}, journal = {HADMÉRNÖK}, volume = {18}, unique-id = {33833432}, abstract = {Early in 2020, the Covid–19 epidemic started, posing many challenges for civilisation. The pandemic caused a paradigm change in many ways, unavoidably increasing peo-ple’s uncertainty and worry about a new global order. Along with stopping the virus, governments aiming to contain the pandemic had to deal appropriately with the info-demic scenario, which supported several pseudo-scientific opinions among substantial numbers of people. The spread of more and more nonsense fake news has eroded the trust in the institutions, which has led to a prolonged phase of the epidemic’s end. It is yet unknown how long the coronavirus epidemic will have an impact on daily life as of the time of writing, in the summer of 2022, more outbreaks have been brought on by mask use and vaccination refusal. Because of this, controlling the crisis and reducing the harm the infodemic creates depends on effective government crisis communica-tion.
