Al 2 O 3 , MgO, two glass powders with different SiO 2 contents, and natural zeolite powder were selected as fillers. The fillers individually were added to the polymer matrix in proportions of 50 and 70% by weight. A hybrid filler-containing composite was created by mixing PA6/70 wt% MgO and PA6/80 wt% zeolite. The results show that the thermal conductive enhancement factor is highest for PA6/70 wt% Al 2 O 3 (145%) and PA6/hybrid fillers 75 wt% (92%). The Lewis-Nielsen and Reciprocity models agreed with the measured data with less than 26% deviation, except for the MgO-loaded composites. In the case of a hybrid composite, the additive model proves to be a good approximation. The abrasive effect of the different fillers was characterised by the volume loss of the steel pin using the pin-on-disc method. A new parameter is developed that considers the thermal conductivity enhancing effect of the fillers and their abrasive effect. In addition to ceramic fillers, aluminium-hydro-silicate, e.g. natural zeolite, and their mixtures offer new opportunities for the development of thermally conductive composites, as they are more economical to use in manufacturing processes. Today, DSC is an essential tool for amorphous alloys research and development, and of course for quality assurance. In many cases, users seek to examine the determination of only one or two properties, although much more information can be obtained from the measurements. The research involved structural relaxation, Curie temperature, glass temperature, crystallization, phase separation, nanocrystalline volume fraction, melting point and liquidus temperature determination subjects and kinetics of microstructural transformations induced by thermal treatment. We collected and present the information that can be obtained with this technique and draws the reader’s attention to some potential problems related to data interpretation. Experiments performed under exactly known conditions and with the detailed knowledge of meso- and micro-structures are required for validating these simulations. The aim of this paper is to give a data set to validate these simulations. Unidirectional solidification experiments were performed by using a rotating magnetic field (RMF) to study the effect of melt flow on the solidified micro- and meso-structure of the Al–7wt.% Si binary alloy. The first and the third 1/3 parts of samples were solidified without magnetic stirring, and the second (middle) 1/3 part was solidified by using magnetic stirring. The magnetic induction was 10 mT, the temperature gradient was ∼7 K/mm, and the sample movement velocity was 0.1 mm/s. On the longitudinal section of the sample, the columnar/equiaxed transition (CET), the equiaxed/columnar transition (ECT), the secondary dendrite arm spacing (SDAS), and the macrosegregation (concentration distribution and the amount of eutectic) were investigated. The primary dendrite arm spacing (PDAS) and the grain structure were studied on the cross-section after color etching.
