Consequently, structural, architectural, and heritage preservation tasks were handled independently, creating diverse prioritization orders in the evaluation of the buildings. One of the greatest victims of this approach are heritage buildings, as less constructive collaborations can result in lasting damages, leading to the loss of certain values.In heritage preservation projects the structural model is typically less regarded as a value, often leading to a reconstruction without consideration of the original state. This significantly impacts the timber roofs, which are one of the most vulnerable building structures and their deformations can affect the entire building, underscoring the critical importance of preserving the original structural model and raising awareness of its significance as a heritage value.This research examines roof structure damages, their categorization from a structural perspective, and possible restoration options considering heritage preservation criteria. Through the examples presented, it becomes evident that the roof structures can only be understood as parts of a complex system. It also becomes apparent that due to this complexity, categorizing structural damages in heritage buildings does not help in making schematic solutions.For every heritage building a thorough investigation and understanding of the historical structural model, the examination of building structures and their interconnections, and the preparation of a reconstruction plan are essential. This process must acknowledge that both the building and its structural model require a unique approach. Considered inappropriate by heritage professionals since the primary task of monument conservation is in situ prevention, there is a need for a better understanding of what relocation means, when it is allowed, how it should be done, and the criteria to determine how and which monuments qualify to be preserved. This paper reviews the aspects of material and structural authenticity when relocating Arslanagic Bridge, the connection with the historical context, and existing charters and terminology. In addition, it aims to contribute to a broader theoretical understanding of relocation. Two types of damage are inflicted on the monument during the relocation; one is that the monument is extracted from the environment in which it originated, and the historical continuity is broken, and the other is from the method of relocation. In the case of the bridge, maintaining a physical appearance becomes more important than material authenticity. During reassembly, the internal cohesiveness was violently disturbed, damaging the integrity of the infill at the structural level by introducing concrete. At the new location, it is articulating as a new element, a new historical layer in a new environmental context. A több évtizedes elhanyagoltság után néhány évvel ezelőtt megkezdődhetett az értékek kutatása és mentése, az alsó kápolnát sikerült részben felújítani, ám a felső kápolna ez év elején már az összedőlés határára került. Közösségi és egyházmegyei kezdeményezésre és a város vezetésének segítségével az utolsó pillanatban sikerült megmenteni. A tervezést és felújítást megelőző kutatásaink olyan építészeti és művészettörténeti gazdagságot tárnak elénk, melyek országos szintű értékek, bemutatásuk és védelmük közös feladatunk. A restaurátori kutatások és értékmentések megtörténtek, és megindult a rekonstrukciós munka is. E cikk alapvető célja, hogy a szakma és a közösség megismerhesse, magáénak érezhesse ennek az együttesnek hazánkkal összefonódott sorsát, mely nemcsak közös múltunk tanúja, de közös jövőnk záloga is egyben.
