His legacy includes the manuscript of a lecture he gave in 1948, in which he reviewed the basic laws adopted in the first phase of the Hungarian Revolution of 1848. Within the framework of the historical constitution, these laws laid the foundations of nationalism and bourgeois constitutionalism in Hungary in the middle of the 19th century. After presenting the similarities and differences between the Hungarian and Polish constitutional developments, the article discusses the conceptual attempts of populist constitutionalism, identifying the primary and secondary characteristics that the literature attributes to this phenomenon. The main point of the article is that these criteria only partially characterize the recent constitutional changes in these two countries, and that the features that do really prevail are more indicative of an unmarked authoritarian transition than of a new, specific version of constitutionalism. It describes the different reasons for the misapplication of constitutional populism to these two countries. Finally, it explains how counterproductive the misconception of populist constitutionalism is for understanding the recent constitutional development in Hungary and Poland.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1474-2659}, pages = {127-155}, orcid-numbers = {Szente, Zoltán/0009-0001-6844-0091} } @article{MTMT:33501830, title = {Constitutional identity as a normative constitutional concept}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33501830}, author = {Szente, Zoltán}, doi = {10.1556/2052.2022.00390}, journal-iso = {HUN J LEGAL STUD}, journal = {HUNGARIAN JOURNAL OF LEGAL STUDIES}, volume = {63}, unique-id = {33501830}, issn = {2498-5473}, year = {2022}, eissn = {2560-1067}, pages = {3-20}, orcid-numbers = {Szente, Zoltán/0009-0001-6844-0091} } @book{MTMT:33500792, title = {Constitutional Law in Hungary.
