The copper-dependence of O-2 transport, metabolism and production of signalling molecules are supported by molecular systems that regulate and preserve tightly-bound static and weakly-bound dynamic cellular copper pools. Disruption of the reducing intracellular environment, characterized by glutathione shortage and ambient Cu(II) abundance drives oxidative stress and interferes with the bidirectional, copper-dependent communication between neurons and astrocytes, eventually leading to various brain disease forms. A deeper understanding of of the regulatory effects of copper on neuro-glia coupling via polyamine metabolism may reveal novel copper signalling functions and new directions for therapeutic intervention in brain disorders associated with aberrant copper metabolism.}, keywords = {GSH; Redox disproportionation and speciation of copper; Dynamic copper pool; Copper-rich aggregates; GSSG ratio; Copper chelate therapy; Neuro-glia coupling}, year = {2018}, eissn = {1478-811X} } @article{MTMT:1760637, title = {Gamma oscillations in the hippocampus are associated with high oxygen consumption}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/1760637}, author = {Kann, O and Huchzermeyer, C and Kovács, Richárd and Wirtz, S and Schuelke, M}, journal-iso = {J CEREBR BLOOD F MET}, journal = {JOURNAL OF CEREBRAL BLOOD FLOW AND METABOLISM}, volume = {29}, unique-id = {1760637}, issn = {0271-678X}, year = {2009}, eissn = {1559-7016}, pages = {S388-S389} } @article{MTMT:1115520, title = {Pyrimidin receptor funkció a központi idegrendszerben}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/1115520}, author = {Szárics, Éva and Kovács, Ilona and Kovács, Richárd and Skuban, N and Kardos, Julianna}, journal-iso = {ACTA PHARM HUNG}, journal = {ACTA PHARMACEUTICA HUNGARICA}, volume = {69}, unique-id = {1115520}, issn = {0001-6659}, year = {1999}, eissn = {1587-1495}, pages = {227-231} }
