TI - The β-decay of 71 Kr: Precise measurement of the half-life JF - EPJ WEB OF CONFERENCES J2 - EPJ WEB CONF VL - 290 PY - 2023 PG - 4 SN - 2101-6275 DO - 10.1051/epjconf/202329002021 UR - https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34572569 ID - 34572569 AB - The very proton-rich 71 Kr isotope was produced through the in-flight fragmentation of 78 Kr on a beryllium target at RIKEN – Nishina Center in order to study its β-decay properties. A stack of double-sided silicon strip detectors, called WAS3ABi, was used as the decay station, where the detection of ion implants, β-decays and β-delayed protons took place. Beta-delayed γ-rays were measured using a system of 84 HPGe detectors, called EURICA, surrounding the decay station. The main goal of the present study was the precise measurement of the half-life of 71 Kr, as in the literature there is an almost 10 σ difference between the most precise independent results. Implant–β time correlations, implant–proton time correlations and implant–β–γ time correlations were all used to derive the half-life value, followed by a thorough investigation of systematic uncertainties for each method. As these values were found to be consistent, the weighted average t 1 / 2 = 94.40 +19 ms is reported as a new half-life value in this work. Furthermore a total of 26 previously unreported γ following the β-decay of 71 Kr were also identified in the analysis. LA - English DB - MTMT ER - TY - JOUR AU - Yokoyama, R. AU - Grzywacz, R. This work reports their half-lives (T-1/2) and beta-delayed neutron-emission probabilities (P-xn). The setup consisted of the BigRIPS in-flight separator for particle identification, the Advanced Implantation Detector Array (AIDA) for ions and beta detection, and the BRIKEN neutron counter for neutron detection. Using this arrangement, 4 new T-1/2 and 14 new P1n were measured. Furthermore, 38 T-1/2 and 2 P-1n values were remeasured, decreasing the uncertainties for some of them. In addition to improving predictions of nucleosynthesis models that describe the production of the rare-earth peak at A similar to 160 via the r-process, these additional experimental data should help to constrain theoretical models for calculations of T-1/2 and P-xn in this region. The experimental setup consisted of the BigRIPS in-flight separator for ion selection identification, the Advance Implantation Detector Array (AIDA) for ions and beta detection, and the BRIKEN detector for neutron counting. Using this setup, 4 new T-1/2 have been measured for the first time, and 38 T-1/2 have been remeasured with improved precision in several cases. This is currently ongoing at the Laboratory for Underground Nuclear Astrophysics where in addition to the low-background environment, the use of different detection systems (HPGe and BGO detectors) and analysis techniques (Peak Shape Analysis and Sum Peak Method) allowed to perform reaction cross section measurements at the lowest energy ever. Both the setup employed in the measurements and the analysis performed are presented in this paper. LA - English DB - MTMT ER - TY - JOUR AU - La Cognata, M. The 3 He( α,γ ) 7 Be reaction is the first reaction of the 2nd and 3rd branch of the p − p chain, so the indetermination of its cross section significantly affects the predicted 7 Be and 8 B neutrino fluxes. Notwithstanding its relevance and the great deal of experimental and theoretical papers, information of the reaction cross section at energies of the core of the Sun (15 keV - 30 keV) is sparse and additional experimental work is necessary to attain the target (~ 3%) accuracy. The precise understanding of the external capture component to the 3 He( α,γ ) 7 Be reaction cross section is pivotal for the theoretical assessment of the reaction mechanism. In this work, the indirect measurement of this external capture component using the Asymptotic Normalization Coefficient (ANC) technique is discussed. To extract the ANC, the angular distributions of deuterons yielded in the 6 Li( 3 He, d ) 7 Be α -transfer reaction were detected with high precision at E 3 He =3.0 MeV and 5.0 MeV. The ANCs were then deduced from the juxtaposition of DWBA and CC calculations with the experimental angular distributions and the zero energy astrophysical S-factor for 3 He( α,γ ) 7 Be reaction was calculated to equal 0.534 ± 0.025 keVb. Both our experimental and theoretical approaches were tested through the analysis of the 6 Li(p, γ ) 7 Be astrophysical factor, with further interesting astrophysical implications.
