	abstract = {The present paper explores parental involvement from the parents’ perspective concerning a specific area – bilingual early childhood education. It aims to uncover the level, extent, and quality of involvement in children’s education of those parents who choose bilingual early years programs for their children. Data is collected via questionnaires and interviews. The research results on parental school choice are reflected in the Hungarian sample, but new aspects are also emerging. Results show that the (upper-)middle-class parents in the sample, who choose the bilingual program for an additional fee, have a solid positive sense of efficacy in their parental role. Their school choice reflects their parental views looking for a municipality-run institution of set boundaries with innovative pedagogical methods and inclusive attitude. Out of the four motives of parental involvement defined by Kernan (2012), three are mentioned in the interviews: the harmonization of pedagogical values, the practical help of parents supporting the organization, and the enablement by building mutual relationships between parents and practitioners. The democratic motif does not appear in the data, meaning shared decision-making practices are not present in the institutions.},

	abstract = {Representation of women in ethics textbooks for primary schoolIn  this  study,  we  examine  the  roles  and  attitudes  of  women  in  junior  class  ethics  textbooks  published  by  the  Hungarian  Institute  for  Educational  Research  and  De-velopment.  In  reviewing  the  theoretical  background,  we  briefly  present  previous  studies examining the representation of women in textbooks, as well as the school subjects and related principles and goals. In our essay we seek the answer to the role of women in the textbooks for the new school subject introduced in 2013, whether the  goals  set  out  in  the  National  Core  Curriculum  are  achieved  and  whether  the  tasks of textbook reflect the results of research on women’s textbook representation. The presentation of the quantitative indicators of the textbooks selected in the sam-ple are followed by the qualitative content analysis of the presented tasks. According to our results, the examined junior class ethics textbooks are dominated by white, male culture. Women do not appear in real social proportions in the textbook-cre-ated world. Men are overrepresented in textbooks, and androcentrism and gender polarization, as indicated in previous research, continue to impede the effective and recent  discussion  of  gender  roles  in  modern  society.  Nevertheless,  very  few  tasks  that explicitly address changing gender roles in teaching practice could have a de-velopmental and sensitizing effect.

	abstract = {Éppen 30 évvel ezelőtt nyitotta meg kapuit az első kétnyelvű iskola Magyarországon,
		melyet nem csupán további iskolák követtek, de a tudományos irodalom is figyelemmel
		kíséri a tevékenységüket (többek között Fisher, 2007; Kovács és Vámos, 2008; Márkus
		és Trentinné, 2014; Nikolov, 2011). Bár a kétnyelvű óvodai programok már csaknem két
		évtizede jelen vannak hazánkban (Kovács, 2018), az óvodai kontextus inkább
		felderítetlen maradt. Mindamellett, hogy a korai kétnyelvű nevelés elméleti háttere
		gondosan kidolgozott (lásd Fishman és Lovas, 1970; Skutnabb-Kangas és McCarty,
		2008; Brumen, 2010; Baker, 2011), a tényleges gyakorlat és annak szülői nézőpontja
		Magyarországon még további feldolgozást igényel. Jelen kutatás kontextusát egy hét
		éve több állami óvodában működő térítéses program jelenti, mely az „egy személy, egy
		nyelv” módszert alkalmazva teremt angol anyanyelvi környezetet a magyar Óvodai
		nevelés országos alapprogramja szerint dolgozó önkormányzati intézményekben. A
		szülői nézőpontra fókuszáló, kvalitatív kérdőíves kutatás három egymást követő év
		(2016, 2017, 2018) adataira támaszkodva vizsgálja, hogy milyen elvárásokkal íratják be
		gyermekeiket a szülők a kétnyelvű programba, illetve, hogy a szülők tapasztalatai
		szerint, mit visz haza a gyermek az óvodai angol környezetből. Az empirikus adatok
		elemzéséből kirajzolódik a terület problematikussága, mely elsősorban, de feltehetően
		nem kizárólagosan a nyelvi fejlődés szintjének mérési nehézségeiben rejlik. Az
		adatokból egyértelműen látható azonban a gyorsan növekvő érdeklődés a
		nyelvtanulás egyre korábbra tolódása iránt, mely a játékos, élményalapú
		nyelvelsajátítás igényével társul. A szülők jelentős hányada a későbbi nyelvtanulás
		megalapozását várja az óvodai nyelvtanulástól, illetve lépést kívánnak tartani a 21.
		század követelményeivel. A válaszokból kitűnik, hogy a szülők szempontjai között
		helyet kap a korai idegennyelv-tanulás pozitív hatása a személyiségfejlődés egyéb
		területeire. A kérdőíves válaszokban megfogalmazott elvárásokban egyértelműen
		hangsúlyt kap továbbá az igény, hogy a gyermekek nyitottá váljanak az idegen
		nyelvek, más kultúrák, a sokszínűség felé.},
