However, this assumption oversimplifies the actual situation, especially in small batch production of up to a few hundred units, since employees can significantly improve their performance thanks to the learning effect, causing task times to decrease. Several researchers have realised the importance of the effect of learning in ALB. However, only a limited number of papers have so far addressed this issue. This is problematic, since ignoring the learning effect in ALB may lead to inaccurate results and by extension misleading conclusions. This study summarises the main contributions in the field of ALB that focus on the learning effect. First, assembly lines (ALs) and ALB problems are characterised. Next, the importance of the learning effect in ALB is highlighted, and the main learning curve (LC) models are introduced. Finally, an exhaustive review of the main contributions in the field of ALB and learning effect is provided. The results highlight that many problems in this area need to be investigated further, in relation to both conceptual model building and the development of algorithms for solving practical size problems. © 2023 Budapest University of Technology and Economics. This paper introduces the interdisciplinary upskilling of engineering students enrolled in engineering programs at the Budapest University of Technology and Economics (BME) and which has been provided by the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences (GTK) since 1998. The BME GTK delivers an educational experience that fits into the environment defined by the engineering faculties at BME. The BME GTK has experience of more than a quarter of a century in engineering education related to socio-economic and management upskilling. This experience may contribute to the common knowledge of engineering education development solutions in the area of sustainability transition. This study focuses on assessing the socio-economic and management related courses of engineering students at BME provided by the nine departments of the GTK. The analyses examine the non-engineering skills of BME engineering students over the past ten years. The sample includes all the compulsory and elective courses available for engineering students. Based on the assessment results, the most significant management and socio-economic courses, and the related non-engineering interdisciplinary skills, both in bachelor and master levels, between 2012 and 2022 can be identified. The analyses allows the monitoring of management education's role in an engineering environment in the last decade. Furthermore, considering sustainability challenges, it provides an excellent basis for strategic decisions on future educational development. © 2023 SEFI 2023 - 51st Annual Conference of the European Society for Engineering Education: Engineering Education for Sustainability, Proceedings. Early research in the field focused on solving the Simple Assembly Line Balancing problem, a basic simplified version of the general problem. As the production environment became more complex, several new ALB problem types appeared, and almost all ALB problems are NP-hard, meaning that finding a solution requires a lot of time, resources, and computational power. Methods with custom-made algorithms and generic approaches have been developed for solving these problems. While custom-made algorithms are generally more efficient, generic approaches can be more easily extended to cover other variations of the problem. Over the past few decades, automation has played an increasingly important role in various operations, although complete automation is often not possible. As a result, there is a growing need for partially automated assembly line balancing models. In these circumstances, the flexibility of a generic approach is essential. This paper compares two generic approaches: mixed integer linear programming (MILP) and constraint programming (CP), for two types of partially automated assembly line balancing problems. While CP is relatively slower in solving the simpler allocation problems, it is more efficient than MILP when an increased number of constraints is applied to the ALB and an allocation and scheduling problem needs to be solved.}, keywords = {ALGORITHM; Assembly line balancing; constraint programming; Mixed integer linear programing}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1613-9178}, orcid-numbers = {Koltai, Tamás/0000-0001-6873-6944} } @book{MTMT:33996635, title = {Relatív hatékonyságvizsgálat (DEA). Despite the rapid progress made in the field, complete automation is not always possible. Often robots cannot replace workers’ flexibility, and sometimes there is no economically viable option for automation. A combined production system with both manual and automated parts could be the best configuration in such circumstances. Even with partial automation the number of workers in the line could be decreased, and workers’ safety and health conditions could be dramatically improved. In this paper, MILP models are suggested to compare the total workload of workers when different numbers of robots are applied in an assembly line with partial automation and the minimum possible number of workers. The proposed MILP model is implemented in the AIMMS modelling environment and solved using CPLEX. The presented models can help evaluate the impact of adding robots to the line on total workers’ workload and may assist decision makers in finding the best possible line configuration.}, year = {2022}, eissn = {2405-8963}, pages = {1734-1739}, orcid-numbers = {Koltai, Tamás/0000-0001-6873-6944} } @article{MTMT:33093086, title = {Relatív hatékonysági eredmények empirikus érzékenységvizsgálata az államigazgatásban}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33093086}, author = {Tamás, Alexandra and Koltai, Tamás}, doi = {10.14267/VEZTUD.2022.08-09.11}, journal-iso = {VEZETÉSTUDOMÁNY}, journal = {VEZETÉSTUDOMÁNY}, volume = {53}, unique-id = {33093086}, issn = {0133-0179}, abstract = {Az államigazgatás feladatellátásának teljesítménymérése és a hatékonyság növelése a közszféra szervezeteinek működtetésében fontos feladatként jelenik meg.
