In the course of this research, the landscape pattern, the current spatial distribution of tourist activities and the possible arrangement of expedient further development were examined. The study area, Lake Tisza, is an artificial lowland reservoir established in the 1970s with an area of 127 km2 in Hungary. Among its original functions, in addition to flood control, nature conservation and recreation have become the main profiles. The diverse hydro-ecological features and mosaic landscape structure allow for nature conservation and utilisation in tourism. This differentiated use is in line with the worldwide trend of favouring locations with multiple leisure activities in close proximity to each other. Based on the CORINE Land Cover (CLC) 2018 database, 12 different land use categories were identified in the study area. The largest proportion is represented by water bodies (53.29%), while inland marshes and broad-leaved forests cover 22.25% and 16.64%, respectively. The heterogeneity of the area is considerably enhanced by the high patch sizes of the categories pastures, broad-leaved forests and inland marshes. According to the Shannon diversity index, the most complex landscape diversity can be found in the Tiszavalk (1.5) and Poroszló (1.4) basins, considered to be the most suitable for ecotourism, while the lower values of the Sarud (1.1) and Abadszalók (1.1) basins provide suitable conditions for water sport activities and recreational tourism. Since lakes represent some of the most important wetlands, providing a wide variety of ecosystem services, they have become a very popular destination. The present study aimed to assess the water quality of the largest artificial lake in Hungary (Kisköre Reservoir—Lake Tisza), and the role of ecological status in tourism development. Monthly water sampling from the basins of the lake (Tiszavalk, Poroszló, Sarud and Abádszalók basins) took place from April–November 2021 and in 2022. The majority of samples from the river section and from the lake are classified as Ca2+-HCO3− type or mixed Ca2+-Na+-HCO3− type. According to the results, the water quality of each basin is considered excellent or good. Rapid warming of the shallow water of the basins was detected during the summer months, resulting in different hydrochemical characteristics (pH, NH4-N, NO2-N, NO3-N, PO4-P, CODcr BOI5) compared to the river section. Differences in the plant nutrient and oxygen balance component groups have been revealed with hierarchical and two-step cluster analysis as well. The results demonstrated that the hydrochemical properties of the lake’s water are substantially influenced by the filling of the lake in spring from the River Tisza and the significant lowering (1.2 m) of the water level in the autumn each year, allowing the drainage of stagnant water, the removal of accumulated sediments and the oxidation of organic matter. The number of tourists on Lake Tisza has increased rapidly over the last decade, confirming that a wide range of ecosystem services have a significant attractive impact on waterfront activities and ecotourism.}, keywords = {MONITORING; ecosystem services; water quality; tourism; artificial lake; surface water reservoir}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2073-4441}, orcid-numbers = {Balla, Dániel/0000-0002-8051-1518; Fazekas, István/0000-0001-7973-9454; Barkat, Ayoub/0000-0002-8651-1252} } @article{MTMT:33743992, title = {A földhasználat változása Debrecen környéki kisvárosok peremi övezetében}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33743992}, author = {Túri, Zoltán and Bánóczki, Krisztina and Csorba, Péter}, journal-iso = {DEBRECENI SZEMLE}, journal = {DEBRECENI SZEMLE}, volume = {31}, unique-id = {33743992}, issn = {1218-022X}, year = {2023}, pages = {43-28} } @article{MTMT:34064870, title = {A tájkép érzékelésének környezetpszichológiai elméletei és egy tiszazugi felmérés tapasztalatai}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34064870}, author = {Csorba, Péter}, doi = {10.32643/fk.146.3.2}, journal-iso = {FÖLDRAJZI KÖZLEMÉNYEK}, journal = {FÖLDRAJZI KÖZLEMÉNYEK}, volume = {146}, unique-id = {34064870}, issn = {0015-5411}, abstract = {Several scientific theories have been developed to explain landscape perception by the human. We summarize the evolutionary, that is prospect-refuge, habitat and information processing theories, dealing with social-psychological aspects of the question and also with the ecological aesthetics idea. In 2021 a landscape character survey was carried out among the citizens of the Tiszazug microregion of Hungary. According to the answers of 104 respondants, the character of the landscape in the microregion would change most dramatically by the disappearance of oxbow lakes, floodplain forests and vineyards. They recognize that the decreasing number of the population and aging of the citizens results in decreasing intensity of landuse, the growing extent of areas that are out of crops and an increasing number of abandoned buildings on the level of landscape scenery.}, year = {2022}, pages = {188-201} } @article{MTMT:33105469, title = {A geográfia időszerűsége}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33105469}, author = {Csorba, Péter}, doi = {10.26888/GEOMET.2022.6.3.2}, journal-iso = {GEOMETODIKA}, journal = {GEOMETODIKA: FÖLDRAJZ SZAKMÓDSZERTANI FOLYÓIRAT}, volume = {6}, unique-id = {33105469}, year = {2022}, eissn = {2560-0745}, pages = {15} } @article{MTMT:33071703, title = {Land Use Changes in Peri-Urban Open Spaces of Small Towns in Eastern Hungary}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33071703}, author = {Csorba, Péter and Bánóczki, Krisztina and Túri, Zoltán}, doi = {10.3390/su141710680}, journal-iso = {SUSTAINABILITY-BASEL}, journal = {SUSTAINABILITY}, volume = {14}, unique-id = {33071703}, abstract = {Changes in land use were studied in 2 km wide peri-urban open spaces of seven small Hungarian towns as part of a RENATUR Interreg Europe (2019–2023) project. The aim of the project is to present best practices related to the sustainable and wise use of the peri-urban open spaces of small European towns. The rate and tendencies of conversion from one land use type to another were evaluated on the basis of a comparison of Corine Land Cover and Land Cover Change databases from 1990, 2000 and 2018. Land use changes in the study areas in different time periods were studied for which the Corine categories were aggregated. Subsequently, there were field verification surveys carried out between March and June of 2021. Most significant changes—due to the significant increase of built-up areas—were found in the case of the towns that were developed to form the suburbs of Debrecen, the core settlement of their region with a population of 200,000. In the case of settlements further away from the major city, the population is either stagnating or decreasing, and the size of built-up areas hardly increases. In the case of cities that are surrounded by high-quality chernozem soils with profitable agriculture, large-scale arable lands have become dominant in the border zones of the settlements, as the spatial extent of gardens, orchards and grasslands has decreased.
