With the spread of the biopsychosocial model, the role of mental health in the activity and course of inflammatory bowel disease is becoming more and more recognized. Our study aimed to assess the prevalence of anxiety and depression in IBD patients in our tertiary referral center and determine the predictive factors of these mental conditions. Methods: A total of 117 patients were included consecutively between 1 December 2021 and 28 February 2022. We used a questionnaire to gather demographic information, disease course, and IBD-specific symptoms. We assessed anxiety symptoms using the GAD-7 and depressive complaints using the PHQ-9 questionnaire. We evaluated disease activity using CDAI and pMayo scores. Results: Of the 117 patients (male/female: 63/54), 88 suffered from Crohn’s disease, and 29 were diagnosed with ulcerative colitis. Only 6 patients were taking medication for mood disorders, and 38 individuals sought mental support during their lifetime. A total of 15% of the population suffered from moderate–severe anxiety disorder, and 22% were affected by moderate–severe depression. The GAD-7 and PHQ9 values showed a significant correlation between the number of stools, bloody stools, abdominal pain, number of flare-ups, and CDAI scores. Conclusions: Our study confirmed that there is a high incidence of anxiety and depressive symptoms among IBD patients. Our results highlighted the symptoms that could be associated with mental disorders. It is important to assess the mental status of IBD patients to improve their quality of life.}, year = {2024}, eissn = {2077-0383}, orcid-numbers = {Balogh, Fruzsina/0000-0003-4623-4024; Gönczi, Lóránt/0000-0002-8819-6460; Lakatos, Péter László/0000-0002-3948-6488; Iliás, Ákos/0000-0002-9865-2642} } @article{MTMT:34752035, title = {Accuracy of the Pancolonic Modified Mayo Score in predicting the long-term outcomes of ulcerative colitis: a promising scoring system}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34752035}, author = {Bacsur, Péter and Wetwittayakhlang, Panu and Resál, Tamás and Földi, Emese and Vasas, Béla and Farkas, Bernadett and Rutka, Mariann and Bessissow, Talat and Afif, Waqqas and Bálint, Anita and Fábián, Anna and Bor, Renáta and Szepes, Zoltán and Farkas, Klaudia and Lakatos, Péter László and Molnár, Tamás}, doi = {10.1177/17562848241239606}, journal-iso = {THER ADV GASTROENTER}, journal = {THERAPEUTIC ADVANCES IN GASTROENTEROLOGY}, volume = {17}, unique-id = {34752035}, issn = {1756-283X}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1756-2848}, orcid-numbers = {Bacsur, Péter/0000-0002-8534-0068; Wetwittayakhlang, Panu/0000-0002-5962-4112; Resál, Tamás/0000-0002-3842-9094; Rutka, Mariann/0000-0003-2360-7836; Bálint, Anita/0000-0002-3624-896X; Fábián, Anna/0000-0002-0824-7476; Bor, Renáta/0000-0001-9393-5240; Szepes, Zoltán/0000-0002-9466-8719; Farkas, Klaudia/0000-0003-0599-182X; Lakatos, Péter László/0000-0002-3948-6488; Molnár, Tamás/0000-0002-4913-7599} } @article{MTMT:34745614, title = {Unravelling the Smoke Trail: Maternal Smoking, Childhood Exposure, and their Impact on Inflammatory Bowel Diseases}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34745614}, author = {Wetwittayakhlang, Panu and Lakatos, Péter László}, doi = {10.1093/ecco-jcc/jjae032}, journal-iso = {J CROHNS COLITIS}, journal = {JOURNAL OF CROHNS & COLITIS}, volume = {18}, unique-id = {34745614}, issn = {1873-9946}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1876-4479}, pages = {2024 Mar 18:jjae032}, orcid-numbers = {Wetwittayakhlang, Panu/0000-0002-5962-4112; Lakatos, Péter László/0000-0002-3948-6488} } @article{MTMT:34670066, title = {A Commentary on the Epidemiology of Inflammatory Bowel Disease in Compounding Prevalence Nations: Towards Sustaining Healthcare Delivery}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34670066}, author = {Herauf, Michelle and Coward, Stephanie and Peña-Sánchez, Juan-Nicolás and Bernstein, Charles N. and Benchimol, Eric I. and Kaplan, Gilaad G.}, doi = {10.1053/j.gastro.2024.02.016}, journal-iso = {GASTROENTEROLOGY}, journal = {GASTROENTEROLOGY}, volume = {In press}, unique-id = {34670066}, issn = {0016-5085}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1528-0012}, pages = {In press}, orcid-numbers = {/0000-0002-3948-6488; Kaplan, Gilaad G./0000-0003-2719-0556; Lakatos, Péter László/0000-0002-3948-6488} } @article{MTMT:34579597, title = {Editorial: The prevalence and outcomes of perianal Crohn's disease across the treatment eras—Authors' reply}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34579597}, author = {Gönczi, Lóránt and Lakatos, László and Iliás, Ákos and Lakatos, Péter László}, doi = {10.1111/apt.17879}, journal-iso = {ALIMENT PHARM THER}, journal = {ALIMENTARY PHARMACOLOGY & THERAPEUTICS}, volume = {59}, unique-id = {34579597}, issn = {0269-2813}, abstract = {This article is linked to Gonczi et al papers.
