Intuition suggests that in a period marked by spectacularly increasing start-up valuations, the opportunity to earn large capital gains increases the importance of corporate investors’ financial motivations. Drawing on interviews with 12 Silicon Valley-based CVC units of global industrial companies, we examine if new trends in CVC investment represent a diversion from incumbents’ traditional focus on improving the competitive advantage of their core businesses. Building on the theory of the financialization of non-financial companies, we investigate the relationship between the strategic and financial motivations of CVC investing. We extend theory by distinguishing between developments at the extensive and intensive margins. We argue that the commonly applied quantitative measures capture financialization only at the extensive margin. Qualitative data indicate that the hypothesis of financialization does not hold at the intensive margin.}, year = {2024}, eissn = {1475-147X}, pages = {373-394} } @techreport{MTMT:34096353, title = {Magyarországi technológiai startupok adatbázisa – bevezető az adatbázis használatához}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34096353}, isbn = {9789633017289}, author = {Szalavetz, Andrea}, unique-id = {34096353}, year = {2023} } @article{MTMT:34077655, title = {Strategic drivers behind the digital transformation of subsidiaries. a longitudinal approach}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34077655}, author = {Városiné Demeter, Krisztina and Losonci, Dávid and Szalavetz, Andrea and Baksa, Máté}, doi = {10.1080/14631377.2023.2236864}, journal-iso = {POST-COMMUNIST ECON}, journal = {POST-COMMUNIST ECONOMIES}, volume = {35}, unique-id = {34077655}, issn = {1463-1377}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1465-3958}, pages = {744-769}, orcid-numbers = {Városiné Demeter, Krisztina/0000-0002-5967-8540; Losonci, Dávid/0000-0003-0073-7849; Baksa, Máté/0000-0002-0834-4727} } @article{MTMT:34043048, title = {Agricultural Technology Start-ups – Romania and Hungary Compared}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34043048}, author = {Szalavetz, Andrea}, journal-iso = {ROM J EUR AFF}, journal = {ROMANIAN JOURNAL OF EUROPEAN AFFAIRS}, volume = {23}, unique-id = {34043048}, issn = {1582-8271}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1841-4273}, pages = {34-45} } @inbook{MTMT:33734368, title = {The Hungarian automobile industry. towards an understanding of the transition to electromobility}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33734368}, author = {Szabó, John and Deák, András György and Szalavetz, Andrea and Túry, Gábor}, booktitle = {On the way to electromobility - a green(er) but more unequal future?}, unique-id = {33734368}, year = {2023}, pages = {241-264}, orcid-numbers = {Szabó, John/0000-0002-8224-1013} } @article{MTMT:33671690, title = {Disentangling the semi-periphery. evolutionary trajectories and perspectives of the Austrian and Hungarian automotive industries}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33671690}, author = {Szalavetz, Andrea and Tölgyessy Péterné Sass, Magdolna}, doi = {10.1080/14631377.2023.2171179}, journal-iso = {POST-COMMUNIST ECON}, journal = {POST-COMMUNIST ECONOMIES}, volume = {35}, unique-id = {33671690}, issn = {1463-1377}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1465-3958}, pages = {211-235} } @article{MTMT:32872118, title = {Digital technologies shaping the nature and routine intensity of shopfloor work}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/32872118}, author = {Szalavetz, Andrea}, doi = {10.1177/10245294221107489}, journal-iso = {COMP CHANGE}, journal = {COMPETITION AND CHANGE}, volume = {27}, unique-id = {32872118}, issn = {1024-5294}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1477-2221}, pages = {277-301} } @techreport{MTMT:33682038, title = {The future of the European automobile industry: Is zero-carbon possible with zero job loss?. country study: Hungary}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33682038}, author = {Szabó, John and Deák, András György and Szalavetz, Andrea and Túry, Gábor}, unique-id = {33682038}, year = {2022}, orcid-numbers = {Szabó, John/0000-0002-8224-1013} } @article{MTMT:33352996, title = {Digitalisation-induced performance improvement.
