The main objective of the Virtual Exchange project was to provide students with opportunities for intercultural and interactional development through the performance of collaborative intercultural tasks. The further aim of the project was to provide students with international intercultural experience and to foster mutual understanding, global education, and digital literacy. We focused significantly on creating joint activities that encouraged international students to communicate in ways that enabled them to grasp knowledge beyond what they could merely acquire from websites or books. Both a preliminary survey and a follow-up survey were conducted among the students involved from the three universities, exploring their initial expectations and cultural perspectives before and after the project. The present study summarises the details and the experiences of the implementation of the Virtual Exchange Project, while another paper presents the results of the questionnaires in more detail. The basic aim of the programme was to provide a support programme for foreign students, who have recently been enrolled in the faculty as the number of foreign students has increased significantly. The project involved not only mentored students, but also students who volunteered as mentors to help their foreign counterparts integrate. From the start, the authors conducted two surveys, one with the mentored students and one with the mentors. The aim of the survey was to find out what the participants’ expectations were at the start of the project. Whose skills will develop, what skills are expected to be developed in the project, what motivational factors play a role in getting someone to participate in such a project. The authors' unhidden aim is to repeat the research every six months and every year to monitor changes. The first studies were quantitative surveys, and the mentors' side of the story is that they believe that the programme can make a positive difference to their soft skills and help them to become better mentors. Thus, the main aim of this study is to validate Chen and Starosta’s (2000) Intercultural Sensitivity Scale in the Hungarian context. To that end, the authors distributed the 24item questionnaire to 361 Hungarian university students at a private business school, examining the scale’s five factors, namely Interaction Engagement, Respect for Cultural Differences, Interaction Confidence, Interaction Enjoyment, and Interaction Attentiveness. A confirmatory factor analysis was then carried out using SPSS AMOS 26.0.0, which indicated that the fivefactor model did not fully align with the data from the Hungarian cohort. The findings of this study demonstrated a lack of independence among the five factors, highlighting the complexity of measuring intercultural sensitivity in varying cultural contexts. To improve the validity and reliability of the instrument and better assess intercultural sensitivity among Hungarian populations, major changes to the items of the questionnaire are suggested. The current structure of the energy market poses a major challenge to national governments, businesses, and households alike, and new strategies need to be developed to focus on energy efficiency. Hungary has also been strongly affected by this situation, which has had an impact on all areas of residential consumption. The present study, based on a primary questionnaire survey carried out in October-November 2022 with 273 evaluable responses, aims to explore the opinions and perceptions of students at a business university in Hungary regarding the energy crisis. The goal is to establish their knowledge about the gas situation and how it is reflected in their consumption practices and savings. The results of a survey of students at the Budapest University of Economics and Business show that young people studying economics are not really aware of the gas market situation in Hungary, but their gas saving habits are characterized by awareness and not primarily motivated by their financial situation. Employees with the soft skills required for a given job can perform the tasks assigned to them more efficiently and successfully, therefore all those involved in the process can consider the completion of the task as a positive experience. By strengthening the employees’ soft skills, companies can improve their corporate culture, their market performance and thus their competitiveness. METHODS: The authors conducted a multi-year research in Hungary, the first part of which was a quantitative study to analyse the soft skills of young people leaving school, their awareness of employers’ expectations and the opportunities and tools they consider useful for developing these skills. The second part of the research involved the other side, i.e. the employers, to assess their expectations of the prospective employees’ soft skills and to explore the development opportunities that employers provide to strengthen these skills. RESULTS: The results of the two questionnaire surveys confirmed that both sides are aware of the soft skills needed in the labour market, although the market participants are not always in agreement about these needs. However, the development of skills, even though they enhance the market competitiveness of the employee and the employer, is not really in line with market expectations. The phenomenon that is the focus of the study is distinguished from the concept of conflict, which is thought to be a broader, more complex process. The main aim of the study is to find out what kind of hurt domestic workers experience at work, what negative criticism they receive, how they can forgive these situations, and how the latter affect the characteristics of the respondents. Does it matter from whom we receive unpleasant comments, or do we detach ourselves from them and only the offence is important? The research took three years to complete, ending in August 2022. 196 employees were asked about the impact of situations in a particular workplace; criticisms from colleagues, both friends and non-friends, and those in a particular position; how it affects the individuals, and how the respondents were able to deal with these offences. The research method was a quantitative, questionnaire-based survey. The research mainly aimed at addressing criticisms of emotional regret, and it explores the issue of forgiveness from this perspective. In this research, therefore, the focus is on the emotional effects of both the criticism and the process of mitigation. This study shows that people are in some way, directly or indirectly, in constant contact with their bosses. The criticism they receive from superiors can have an enormous impact on their mood. The aim of the programme is to support the integration of foreign students studying at the faculty and to develop their soft skills. The study involves 69 foreign students, and the authors share some simple results of a questionnaire survey carried out at the start of the project. The first findings confirm that students expect a lot from the mentoring programme, especially in terms of developing their soft skills. By making a clarification on the scope of soft skills and the literature approaches, our research focus falls on detecting how employees, mainly students of the future labour market, and employing companies, mainly those who sharply face the changing world, rank and evaluate soft skills, as well as how these can be harmonised and developed. The data collection is based on surveys, and the analysis uses statistical methods. The results express that there are frictions in the demand and supply side of the labour market in terms of soft skills, but agents see paths and methods to improve them and to match to the changing world.
