Quantitative statistical analysis was conducted on a sample of Hungarian enterprises with international embeddedness. The sample includes 209 Hungarian enterprises (82% SMEs), which are representative in terms of company size and sector. Cluster analysis was applied to classify enterprises along with their environmental performance. Analysis of variance (ANOVA) was used to quantify the links between clusters and multi-faceted environmental performance and competitiveness variables. Correlation analysis and ANOVA were applied to measure the internal consistency of the environmental variables. As a result, the main hypothesis was confirmed. The clusters with the best (and worst) environmental performance scored the highest (lowest) according to the multidimensional firm competitiveness index used. Regarding specific dimensions of competitiveness, the research hypotheses were partly confirmed. In summary, sound and effective environmental performance is ‘worth it’ if competitiveness is also considered comprehensively.}, year = {2024}, pages = {3-22}, orcid-numbers = {Harangozó, Gábor/0000-0003-2189-005X; Wimmer, Ágnes/0000-0002-3430-7962} } @article{MTMT:35077260, title = {Suburban neighbourhoods versus panel housing estates – An ecological footprint-based assessment of different residential areas in Budapest, seeking for improvement opportunities}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/35077260}, author = {Egedy, Tamás and Szigeti, Cecília and Harangozó, Gábor}, doi = {10.15201/hungeobull.73.2.4}, journal-iso = {HUNG GEOGR BULL (2009-)}, journal = {HUNGARIAN GEOGRAPHICAL BULLETIN (2009-)}, volume = {73}, unique-id = {35077260}, issn = {2064-5031}, abstract = {In this study, the household consumption-related ecological footprint of lifestyles linked to panel housing estates and suburban neighbourhoods were compared in the case of Budapest and its suburbs. Our results show that the biggest parts of the ecological footprint are in both study areas the carbon, the cropland and the forest components, in line with earlier calculations. On the whole, the ecological footprint values are bigger in the suburban study area (2.63 gha/capita) compared to the panel housing estates (2.29 gha/capita), mainly because of the differences between the carbon uptake and the built-up land components. Beyond comparing the ecological footprint values of different residential areas, the study also contributes to the literature by addressing the improvement options of the respective areas through a rough model calculation on the reduction opportunities in both cases, resulting 36 percent in case of panel housing estates, and 47 percent in the suburban areas. Although these values have to be considered cautiously, they show significant opportunities in ecological footprint reduction in both types of residential areas supported by individual motivations, as well as by policy measures.}, year = {2024}, eissn = {2064-5147}, pages = {165-184}, orcid-numbers = {Egedy, Tamás/0000-0003-3929-8425; Szigeti, Cecília/0000-0002-2163-5211; Harangozó, Gábor/0000-0003-2189-005X} } @article{MTMT:34597145, title = {A fenntarthatóságot szolgáló üzleti gyakorlatok fogyasztói elfogadása a COVID idején – Egy egyetemista minta tapasztalatai}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34597145}, author = {Csutora, Mária and Szigeti, Cecília and Harangozó, Gábor}, doi = {10.14267/VEZTUD.2024.02.01}, journal-iso = {VEZETÉSTUDOMÁNY}, journal = {VEZETÉSTUDOMÁNY}, volume = {55}, unique-id = {34597145}, issn = {0133-0179}, abstract = {A COVID-19 járványhoz kapcsolódó korlátozások jelentős hatást gyakoroltak a fenntarthatóságra fókuszáló üzleti gyakorlatok elterjedésére. A tanulmány célja kettős: egyrészt feltárni, hogyan változott a fenntartható üzleti gyakorlatok fogyasztói elfogadása a járvány hatására, másrészt megvizsgálni, várható-e visszarendeződés a járvány elültével, azaz tetten érhető-e részleges vagy teljes visszapattanó hatás. A szerzők egy 622 fős minta alapján leíró statisztikák, illetve faktor- és klaszterelemzés segítségével vizsgálták a fentieket. Az eredmények alapján a fogyasztók nyitottsága általánosságban nőtt a vizsgált gyakorlatokkal kapcsolatban, egyedül a megosztáson alapuló megoldások (szállás, közlekedés) esetében csökkent. A várt visszapattanó hatás jelentős a fenntarthatósági gyakorlatok iránt nyitott klaszterek („Felelős zöldek” és „Innovatívak”) körében is, ami különösen fontossá teszi, hogy vállalati innovációk, illetve szakpolitikai és oktatási megoldások révén megtartható legyen a válság idején elért nagyobb nyitottság.}, year = {2024}, pages = {2-16}, orcid-numbers = {Csutora, Mária/0000-0002-0749-3923; Szigeti, Cecília/0000-0002-2163-5211; Harangozó, Gábor/0000-0003-2189-005X} } @CONFERENCE{MTMT:35322847, title = {Carbon lock-in trap in low income families. can we make the carbon neutral transformation inclusive?}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/35322847}, author = {Csutora, Mária and Harangozó, Gábor}, booktitle = {The 29th International Sustainable Development Research Society, ISDRS Conference}, unique-id = {35322847}, year = {2023}, pages = {107-107}, orcid-numbers = {Csutora, Mária/0000-0002-0749-3923; Harangozó, Gábor/0000-0003-2189-005X} } @article{MTMT:34121849, title = {Fenntarthatóság a divatiparban?. The COVID-19 crisis was a strong test of sustainability for these models. In our study, we assessed which business models are highly dependent on the economic cycle and are highly embedded in consumer society. We conducted our research at the height of the second wave of the pandemic and asked university students about changes in their consumption patterns and their expectations for the future. We carried out cluster analysis on our sample of 622 respondents. We were interested in the extent to which participation in certain business models could be associated with the rebound effect that could be predicted after the epidemic. The stronger this effect, the more embedded a sustainable business model is in consumer society and the less able it is to reduce its environmental impacts in the long term. We found that resource efficiency, the sharing economy, and digitalization fall into this category. Participation in sufficiency and stewardship-based business models predicted much less rebound impact.
