In the early stages of filtration, until reaching a volume reduction ratio (VRR) of ~1.5, the membranes coated with functionalized CNT-containing composites provided significantly higher fluxes than the non-functionalized ones, proving the beneficial effect of the surface modifications of the CNTs. Additionally, until the end of the filtration experiments (VRR = 5), notable flux enhancements were achieved with both TiO2 (~50%) and TiO2/CNT-coated membranes (up to ~300%), compared to the uncoated membrane. The irreversible filtration resistances of the membranes indicated that both the hydrophilicity and surface charge (zeta potential) played a crucial role in membrane fouling. However, a sharp and significant flux decrease (~90% flux reduction ratio) was observed for all membranes until reaching a VRR of 1.1–1.8, which could be attributed to the chemical composition of the oil. Gas chromatography measurements revealed a lack of hydrocarbon derivatives with polar molecular fractions (which can act as natural emulsifiers), resulting in significant coalescent ability (and less stable emulsion). Therefore, this led to a more compact cake layer formation on the surface of the membranes (compared to a previous study). It was also demonstrated that all membranes had excellent purification efficiency (97–99.8%) regarding the turbidity, but the effectiveness of the chemical oxygen demand reduction was slightly lower, ranging from 93.7% to 98%.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2077-0375}, orcid-numbers = {Gyulavári, Tamás/0000-0001-6103-6689; Pap, Zsolt/0000-0002-8049-0809; Laczi, Krisztián/0000-0002-9399-7406; Perei, Katalin/0000-0001-8989-2284; Nyergesné Illés, Erzsébet/0000-0002-2901-9616; Veréb, Gábor/0000-0001-9642-1851} } @article{MTMT:34039621, title = {Titán-dioxid fotokatalizátorok fotokatalitikus aktivitásának növelése}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34039621}, author = {Gyulavári, Tamás and Veréb, Gábor and Pap, Zsolt and Hernádi, Klára}, doi = {10.24100/MKF.2023.01.39}, journal-iso = {MAGY KÉM FOLY KÉM KÖZL}, journal = {MAGYAR KÉMIAI FOLYÓIRAT - KÉMIAI KÖZLEMÉNYEK (1997-)}, volume = {129}, unique-id = {34039621}, issn = {1418-9933}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1418-8600}, pages = {39-44}, orcid-numbers = {Gyulavári, Tamás/0000-0001-6103-6689; Veréb, Gábor/0000-0001-9642-1851; Pap, Zsolt/0000-0002-8049-0809; Hernádi, Klára/0000-0001-9419-689X} } @article{MTMT:34030718, title = {Tungsten Oxide Morphology-Dependent Au/TiO2/WO3 Heterostructures with Applications in Heterogenous Photocatalysis and Surface-Enhanced Raman Spectroscopy}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34030718}, author = {Székely, István and Kovács, Zoltán and Rusu, Mihai and Gyulavári, Tamás and Todea, Milica and Focșan, Monica and Baia, Monica and Pap, Zsolt}, doi = {10.3390/catal13061015}, journal-iso = {CATALYSTS}, journal = {CATALYSTS}, volume = {13}, unique-id = {34030718}, abstract = {Developing highly efficient Au/TiO2/WO3 heterostructures with applications in heterogeneous photocatalysis (photocatalytic degradation) and surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (dye detection) is currently of paramount significance. Au/TiO2/WO3 heterostructures were obtained via heat or time-assisted synthesis routes developed by slightly modifying the Turkevich–Frens synthesis methods and were investigated by TEM, SEM, XRD, Raman spectroscopy, XPS, photoluminescence, and UV–vis DRS techniques. Structural features, such as WO3 crystalline phases, TiO2 surface defects, as well as the WO3 (220) to TiO2-A (101) ratio, were the key parameters needed to obtain heterostructures with enhanced photocatalytic activity for removing oxalic acid, phenol, methyl orange, and aspirin. Photodegradation efficiencies of 95.9 and 96.9% for oxalic acid; above 96% (except one composite) for phenol; 90.1 and 97.9% for methyl orange; and 81.6 and 82.1% for aspirin were obtained. By employing the SERS technique, the detection limit of crystal violet dye, depending on the heterostructure, was found to be between 10−7–10−8 M. The most promising composite was Au/TiO2/WO3-HW-TA it yielded conversion rates of 82.1, 95.9 and 96.8% for aspirin, oxalic acid, and phenol, respectively, and its detection limit for crystal violet was 10−8 M. Au/TiO2/WO3-NWH-HA achieved 90.1, 96.6 and 99.0% degradation efficiency for methyl orange, oxalic acid, and phenol, respectively, whereas its limit of detection was 10−7 M. The effects of the urea ratio on the morpho–structural properties and photocatalytic activity of the samples were investigated. X-ray diffraction, diffuse reflectance spectroscopy, infrared spectroscopy, Raman spectroscopy, scanning electron microscopy, and surface tension measurements were carried out to characterize the samples. Their photoactivity was evaluated by the photocatalytic degradation of rhodamine B and ibuprofen under UV and visible light irradiations. The urea ratio notably influenced morphology, particle size distribution, and photoactivity. However, it only had a limited effect on the crystalline composition, primary crystallite size, and band gap of bismuth oxybromides. The formation of Bi-based complexes and degraded urea-based products were observed, which were deduced to influence band gap energies and hence, photoactivity.
