Individuals invest in their own economic potential through education and training; therefore, they increase their labour market value and their future earnings, according to human capital theory. The primary objective of this paper was to examine the decisions made by young people studying in Hungary on continuing their education and selecting the appropriate institution and degree programme, as well as their expectations for their degree. The examination was conducted by means of a questionnaire in seven Hungarian higher education institutions. The findings revealed that students' decisions on going on to higher education are largely influenced by the prospect of a better job in the future, as well as the likelihood of career and financial success.}, keywords = {Higher education; Youth; DECISIONS; Labour market; EXPECTATIONS; Employability}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1785-8860}, pages = {229-248}, orcid-numbers = {Csehné Papp, Imola/0000-0002-5190-0194; Karácsony, Péter/0000-0001-7559-0488} } @article{MTMT:34446700, title = {Vélemények a munkahelyi menstruációs szabadságról: magyarországi felmérés tapasztalatai alapján}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34446700}, author = {Gyulai, Georgina and Karácsony, Péter}, journal-iso = {PARTIUMI EGYETEMI SZEMLE}, journal = {PARTIUMI EGYETEMI SZEMLE}, volume = {22}, unique-id = {34446700}, issn = {1582-9952}, year = {2023}, pages = {31-40}, orcid-numbers = {Karácsony, Péter/0000-0001-7559-0488} } @article{MTMT:34397573, title = {The factors which influenced the Hungarian traveller decisions and tourism organisations during the coronavirus crisis and beyond}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34397573}, author = {Karácsony, Péter and Vasa, László and Pásztóová, Vivien}, doi = {10.21003/ea.V202-05}, journal-iso = {ECON ANN XXI}, journal = {ECONOMIC ANNALS-XXI}, volume = {202}, unique-id = {34397573}, issn = {1728-6220}, abstract = {In the 21st century, tourism and hospitality are highly profitable industries. Thousands of people enjoy visiting popular tourist resorts, and historical and natural sites or trying out the most exciting attractions, which give tourists the experience of a lifetime. In the aftermath of the 2019 coronavirus crisis, the way tourism organisations operate has changed dramatically. The coronavirus outbreak caused huge liquidity problems for companies, which also affected the tourism sector. We examine the impact of the COVID-19 coronavirus crisis on tourism organisations operating through primary research. The literature review is based on a synthesis of domestic and international research findings. For the primary research, an online questionnaire survey was conducted among the 312 selected respondents - active tourists - in the all regions of Hungary in 2022. We analysed the decisions of Hungarians who travelled domestically and abroad and whether such factors as media coverage of coronavirus crisis and financial situation fears influence them. The research is based on the testing of three hypotheses. Through correlation analysis and chi-square quantification, the research results showed that media coverage of the coronavirus crisis, fear of illness, and financial factors influenced respondents’ travel behaviour and thus the performance and operations of tourism organisations in Hungary.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1728-6239}, pages = {52-60}, orcid-numbers = {Karácsony, Péter/0000-0001-7559-0488; Pásztóová, Vivien/0000-0003-0600-2384} } @article{MTMT:33686821, title = {EMPLOYEE ATTITUDE TO ORGANISATIONAL CHANGE IN SMALL AND MEDIUM-SIZED ENTERPRISES}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/33686821}, author = {Karácsony, Péter and Metzker, Zdenko and Czakó-Vasic, Tihana and Koltai, Judit Petra}, doi = {10.15240/tul/001/2023-1-006}, journal-iso = {E M EKON MANAG}, journal = {E & M EKONOMIE A MANAGEMENT}, volume = {26}, unique-id = {33686821}, issn = {1212-3609}, abstract = {The crisis caused by the coronavirus pandemic affects the daily operation of organisations, which also brings changes in the life of their workforce. Managing organisational change has been a significant challenge for organisations for several decades. The aim of the research is to assess the behaviour of affected employees toward organisational change. It is examined how different groups of employee’s experience change in general and what they think about organisational change. Furthermore, it is explored whether employees understand the motivation behind the change and how does the change impact their organisation. To answer the research questions, a comprehensive questionnaire survey of small and medium-sized enterprises in Hungary was conducted in autumn 2021. The suitability of the application of factor analysis evaluating the dependence of selected areas of the questionnaire was supported by Barlett test a Cronbach’s alfa coefficient. For individual hypotheses two-sample t-test, contingency table analysis, and Pearson’s Chi-squared test, were applied. The evaluation of the 215 questionnaires shows that the behaviour of employees toward organisational changes is different. The difference in attitudes to the benefit of organizational change for employees were identified, but not for enterprise. Furthermore, the difference in attitudes between employees who have undergone organizational change in the enterprise and those who have not undergone organizational change, were identified too. It is interesting that contingency between the extent to which managers play a role in change and the well-executed nature of change were detected. The practical usage of the research can be helpful for SME management, especially in the HR field. The management can consider that employees may be afraid of the changes if they are ahead of them, but if the change is handled well, people will think positively of it.}, year = {2023}, eissn = {2336-5064}, pages = {94-110}, orcid-numbers = {Karácsony, Péter/0000-0001-7559-0488} } @inproceedings{MTMT:34504228, title = {Analysis of the impact of workplace factors stress of employees working in hungarian small and medium-sized enterprises}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34504228}, author = {Karácsony, Péter and Szilágyi, Győző Attila and Pásztóová, Vivien}, booktitle = {RELIK 2023 Conference proceedings - Reproduction of Human Capital - mutual links and connections}, unique-id = {34504228}, year = {2023}, pages = {133-142}, orcid-numbers = {Karácsony, Péter/0000-0001-7559-0488; Szilágyi, Győző Attila/0000-0002-3294-6760} } @article{MTMT:32604966, title = {The impact of COVID-19 crisis on Hungarian small- and medium-sized enterprises}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/32604966}, author = {Karácsony, Péter}, doi = {10.1504/IJESB.2023.10059020}, journal-iso = {INT J ENTR BUS}, journal = {INTERNATIONAL JOURNAL OF ENTREPRENEURSHIP AND SMALL BUSINESS}, volume = {50}, unique-id = {32604966}, issn = {1476-1297}, year = {2023}, eissn = {1741-8054}, pages = {243-261}, orcid-numbers = {Karácsony, Péter/0000-0001-7559-0488} } @article{MTMT:34043028, title = {Analysis of Factors Influencing the Motivation of Hungarian Junior Handball Players}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/34043028}, author = {Karácsony, Péter and Krupanszki, Kornel}, doi = {10.17309/tmfv.2023.3.17}, journal-iso = {TEORIA TA METODIKA FIZICNOGO VIHOVANNA}, journal = {TEORIA TA METODIKA FIZICNOGO VIHOVANNA}, volume = {23}, unique-id = {34043028}, issn = {1993-7989}, abstract = {Study purpose. In sports, just like in everyday life, motivation plays an important role in achieving individual goals. Motivation is an individual’s decision to engage in certain activities and make various efforts to do so. Sports require a continuous, constant effort from individuals, so it is even more important here that the athlete has the necessary motivation. Without motivation, it is not possible to do sports at a high level in the long term. The aim of the study was to examine the sports motivation factors of handball players in the Hungarian junior classes. Handball is one of the most popular sports in Hungary. As a result, it can be said that, from the point of view of the long-term success of the sport, it is essential to know the factors that motivate youth athletes.Materials and methods. We collected the data required for the research using a questionnaire. The research took place in the fall of 2022, with 190 youth athletes interviewed. During our research, we established that internal and external motivational factors are equally important for Hungarian youth handball players.Results. With statistical calculations, we show a significant relationship between the athletes’ motivation and the joy caused by sports, the avoidance of disappointment caused to the environment due to the cessation of sports, and the sports results achieved.Conclusions. Oil is the number one source of energy for many industries, especially those based on motor-driven machines. The purpose of this paper is to give insight into the Hungarian energy sector situation and policy. Hungary is a small country with a relatively small amount of domestic energy resources. The Hungarian energy sector has often been determined by external factors and social needs in the past. Among the factors influencing the future of the country's energy sector is the need of society for reliable and secure energy and the country's efforts to overcome the vulnerability caused by energy shortages. Hungary's energy supply is highly dependent on Hungarian power plants, of which the Paks Nuclear Power Plant stands out, which accounts for 49 percent of total production. Like all countries' energy policy, Hungary will be most affected by environmental protection and world market prices.
