	abstract = {Fieldwork provided well-preserved Laevaptychus sp. ex gr. hoplisus – obliquus specimens from the lower Kimmeridgian of Zengővárkony (Mecsek Mountains, south Hungary). This study presents the stable isotope analysis of these aptychi and control samples from brachiopods ( Nucleata and Pygope ) derived from the Zengővárkony section bed 3. Rarely observed structures in the upper lamellar layers of the studied laevaptychi revealed 24–32 concentric lamellae that represent primary textural features and indicate excellent preservation. After careful screening for diagenetic effects, stable oxygen isotope compositions yielded seawater temperatures between 20 and 26 °C in good agreement with earlier studies on Jurassic formations, with improved precision. Our research presents for the first time that well-preserved laevaptychi may be a reliable data source for paleoclimate and paleotemperature reconstructions.},

	abstract = {Continental rifting of the Tisza microplate started during the Late Jurassic and resulted in phreatic eruptions, peperite, and the construction of a volcanic edifice in the Early Cretaceous in the Mecsek Mountains (South Hungary). In the SE direction from the volcanic edifice at Zengővárkony, a shallow marine (depth 100–200 m) carbonate sediment hosted a vent environment, and iron ore deposition occurred at the end of the Valanginian to early Hauterivian, hosting a diverse, endemic fauna of approximately 60 species. The detailed mineralogical analysis of the transport conduits included Fe oxides (ferrihydrite, goethite, hematite, and magnetite), quartz, mixed carbonate, pyrite, feldspar, Fe-bearing clay minerals, apatite, sulfates (barite, gypsum, and jarosite), and native sulfur. Filamentous, microbially mediated microtextures with inner sequented, necklace-like spheric forms (diameter of 1 μm) and bacterial laminae are also observed inside decapod crustacean coprolites (Palaxius tetraochetarius) and in the rock matrix. This complex ecological and mineralogical analysis provided direct evidence for the presence of bacteria in fossil sediment-hosted vent (SHV) environments on the one hand and for the intimate connection between bacteria and decapod crustaceans in hydrothermal environments 135 Ma before. This observation completes the fossil food chain of chemosynthesis-based ecosystems, from primary producers to the top carnivores reported for the first time from this locality.},

	abstract = {D’Arcy Wentworth Thompson transzformációs elmélete nem aratott osztatlan sikert megjelenése idején, holott az alapját képező párhuzamok és jelenségek létezését korának minden gondolkodója elfogadta. Forradalmi megközelítése és új szemlélete a matematikai biológia volt, azaz a matematika alkalmazása a biológiában. A fizikai erők és törvények működését a biológiai rendszerek fejlődésében egyenrangú hatóként kezelte a darwini természetes szelekcióval, felhívva a figyelmet arra, hogy számos biológiai forma és kifejlődés megértéséhez szükségtelen
		a természetes szelekciót segítségül hívni. Manapság elmélete az evolúciós fejlődésbiológia alapműve, és számos kutatási irány gyökere Thompson műveiben keresendő. Hatása túlmutat a tudományon: szobrászok, festőművészek, építőmérnökök, sőt, még a mesterséges intelligencia arcfelismerő programjai is merítenek belőle, ősforrásuknak tekintik. Amennyiben transzformációs elmélete bizonyítható, úgy életműve a legnagyobb tudósok sorába, Darwinnal egy magasságba emelheti.},

	abstract = {A palaeontological analysis of the evolutionary steps of Metazoa is tracing back the appearance and first steps of information behaviour as far as the Proterozoic Eon. Either the neural cell or the nervous system or the eyesight did not trigger the appearance of the information behaviour, but it did a novel way of diet. Carnivorous diet appeared on Earth slightly before the information behaviour as a completely new way of feeding – and what is more important: the application of light into the behavioural complexes as a radically innovative survival supporting tool. A genetic toolkit was ready for Metazoa, and the combination of the neural system, eyesight and carnivorous diet initiated the information behaviour. We provide an answer for this simple question: why did the carnivorous diet result in the first disruptive innovation in information behaviour? The junction of Big History, palaeontology and information history provides many challenging new aspects for further research.},

	abstract = {A földi bioszférát valaha sújtó legnagyobb kihalási események közül a második legsúlyosabb volt az ordoviciumi nagy kihalási esemény, amely az akkori tengeri élőlénynemzetségek 57%-át tüntette el. A kihalás okának sokáig a hirnanti glaciálist hozták fel, ám az eljegesedés bizonyítékai inkább következményei, semmint bizonyítékai voltak a nagy kihalásnak. Újabb bizonyítékok szerint az ordovicium végi sekélytengeri anoxia lehetett a kihalás végső oka, ám a rétegtani adatok alapján ez is korábbi esemény, mint maga a kihalás. Lehetséges okként extraterresztrikus tényezők kerültek a kutatások homlokterébe, mint a közeli szupernóva-robbanásokhoz kapcsolódó gammakitörések. Ezek bizonyítékait meg is találták a Hold és Földünk mélytengeri üledékeiben 60 Fe izotópok formájában, ám ezek legfeljebb hatmillió évig igazolhatók. Jelenleg nyitott kérdés, hogy vajon a műszerek képesek lesznek-e a 440 millió éves rétegekből is kimutatni ugyanazokat a szupernóva-robbanás által Földünkre juttatott izotópokat, mint amiket a hatmillió évvel ezelőtt lerakódott kőzetekből igazoltak.},
