The investigated methods were the Thurstone method with ties, the analytic hierarchy process with logarithmic least squares method, and the RankNet neural network. The methods were analyzed in both complete and incomplete comparison tasks. The ranking based on complete comparison was performed on match results of national leagues, where each team had match results against all the other teams. In the incomplete comparison case, in addition to the national league results, only a few match results from international cups were available to determine the aggregated ranking of the teams playing in the top five European leagues. The rankings produced by the ranking methods were compared with each other, with the official national rankings, and with the UEFA club coefficient rankings. However, anticancer therapies pose a higher cardiovascular risk to patients. As prevention against cancer therapy-induced cardiomyopathy has yet to be explored, the preventive ability of concomitant cardiovascular medications against incident heart failure was assessed.A retrospective, population-based study was run using anonymized integration of healthcare databases. All the Hungarian patients diagnosed with breast or colorectal carcinoma and undergoing chemotherapy or biological therapy were analysed. Participants were not treated with any anticancer therapy nor suffered from heart failure/dilated cardiomyopathy during the preceding observational period (≥6.5 years). The heart failure endpoint was established by I50 International Classification of Diseases codes upon discharge from hospital or issuance of an autopsy report.Among the 9575 patients who were enrolled, the cumulative incidence of heart failure over 4 years was 6.9%. The time until the first heart failure event in the propensity score-matched treated and untreated groups was compared using Cox proportional-hazards models. A significant association between lower heart failure risk and concomitant statin therapy was observed (hazard ratio: 0.748, P = 0.038); the preventive ability was more pronounced in the anthracycline/capecitabine/platinum-treated subgroup (hazard ratio: 0.660, P = 0.032). For angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor/angiotensin II receptor blocker therapy, a significantly lower heart failure risk was also observed (hazard ratio: 0.809, P = 0.032). The main advantage of the phase-based method is that it can decrease the number of necessary vehicle dependent parameters during the detection of critical driving situations and sensor plausibility problems. The most accurate quality assurance feedback may be from survival analysis, however, the vast majority of studies available in the literature use estimation-based models. In our work, we analyzed much more accurate, population-based data. MATERIALS AND METHODS: Cases of colorectal cancer, lung cancer, breast cancer, prostate cancer and cervical cancer reported to the National Cancer Registry between 2001 and 2015 were analyzed. The incidence was standardized according to the 2013 European Standard Population and compared with mortality data from the Central Statistical Office. We performed a statistical analysis of patient survival on a cleansed database. The comparison was made between two different periods (2001–2005 and 2011–2015) and the stage of the tumor. RESULTS: The standardized incidence of colorectal, breast, and prostate cancers increased during the study period, while there was a decrease in lung and cervical cancers. In addition, the survival of patients with colorectal, breast and prostate carcinomas improved between 2011 and 2015 compared to 2001–2005. In contrast, there was a slight deterioration in lung cancer, while there was no significant change in cervical cancer. Examination of the survival pattern based on the tumor stage revealed that at a low stage, the outcome was more favorable for almost all tumor types, however, at a more advanced stage, survival benefit is no longer expected from oncology treatment. Analysis of the distribution of each stage showed that while colorectal, breast and prostate cancer were generally detected at a lower stage between 2011 and 2015, a higher proportion of lung and cervical cancers were in the higher stage. DISCUSSION: Our results support that new types of oncology therapies are more effective in early-stage patients, and greater progress is expected from the development of a screening network. This method creates a suitable control group if all factors affecting the output variable are known. However, if relevant latent variables exist as well, which are not taken into account during the calculations, the quality of the control group is uncertain. In this paper, we present a statistics-based research in which we try to determine the relationship between the accuracy of the logistic regression model and the uncertainty of the dependent variable of the control group defined by propensity score matching. Our analyses show that there is a linear correlation between the fit of the logistic regression model and the uncertainty of the output variable. In certain cases, a latent binary explanatory variable can result in a relative error of up to 70% in the prediction of the outcome variable. In most of these cases it is very informative to map and visualize the hidden structure of complex data set in a low-dimensional space. The aim of this paper is to propose a new mapping algorithm based both on the topology and the metric of the data. The utilized Topology Representing Network (TRN) combines neural gas vector quantization and competitive Hebbian learning rule in such a way that the hidden data structure is approximated by a compact graph representation. TRN is able to define a low- dimensional manifold in the high-dimensional feature space. In case the existence of a manifold, multidimensional scaling and/or Sammon mapping of the graph distances can be used to form the map of the TRN (TRNMap). The aim of this hybridization is to increase the robustness and consistency of the clustering results and to decrease the number of the heuristically defined parameters of these algorithms to decrease the influence of the user on the clustering results. For the analysis of the resulted fuzzy clusters a new fuzzy similarity measure based tool has been presented. The calculated similarities of the clusters can be used for the hierarchical clustering of the resulted fuzzy clusters, which information is useful for cluster merging and for the visualization of the clustering results.
