Therefore, fostering them through tasks embedded in visual art tasks could be a promising endeavour. In order to develop efficient intervention programs knowledge about the relationship of visual and thinking skills is necessary. The aim of the study is to describe the relationships of visual and spatial skills, combinatorial and divergent thinking in Grade 5 and 9.The sample for the study was drawn from fifth- (N=301) and ninth-grade (N=320 students (age Mfifth=11.5; Mnineth=15.7). Online instruments were used for assessment. The visual communication test measured visual recognition and interpretation, symbolization, abstraction, modality change, colour and shape perception, and colour memory. The spatial tasks assessed visualization, reconstruction of space, space orientation, mental rotation. The combinatorial thinking test comprised 8 tasks for both Grades that required the enumeration of all constructs under predefined conditions. Divergent thinking was assessed through alternative uses and picture meaning tasks. We found significant correlations between all test results. Most of the coefficients are greater in Grade 9 than Grade 5. Combinatorial thinking had stronger correlations with visual and spatial skills than divergent thinking. The correlation between combinatorial skills with visual and spatial skills are similar in magnitude than those among the two domains in the visual arts realm: visual and spatial perception. Our results show the significance of harmonised development of thinking and visual/spatial skills, implying that art education may have a significant developmental effect far beyond the cultivation of aesthetic sense.}, year = {2021}, pages = {106-106}, orcid-numbers = {Pásztor, Attila/0000-0001-8441-446X} } @{MTMT:31833637, title = {A vizuális, a téri, a kombinatív képességek, valamint a divergens gondolkodás összefüggései 5. és 9. évfolyamon}, url = {https://m2.mtmt.hu/api/publication/31833637}, author = {Pásztor, Attila and Babály, Bernadett and Simon, Tünde and Tóth, Alisa and Gaul-Ács, Ágnes}, booktitle = {Család a nevelés és az oktatás fókuszában: XX.
