The reduced species [Ni(omicron-SC6H4N = CHCH = NC6H4S-omicron)]- (2) and [Ni(omicron-SC6H4NHCH2CH = NC6H4S-omicron)]- (3) were identified as intermediates in the catalytic cycle.
